Sumedh glanced at Himani as they walked, his face stoic, betraying none of the emotions swirling within him. "Chalo, main tumhe classroom chhod aata hoon," he said softly, his voice calm yet distant.
"Ji," Himani replied, her tone barely above a whisper. Her fingers trembling slightly.
Abhishek, who had been quietly walking alongside them, suddenly spoke up. "Chal, main bhi jaata hoon," he said with a small smile, trying to lighten the mood. Then he turned to Himani, his expression softening. "Tumhe kuch bhi zarurat ho, to mujhe bata dena. Agar Sumedh na aa paaye to."
"Ok, sir," Himani said, her voice still low but touched with gratitude.
As Sumedh and Himani approached the classroom, Sumedh's gaze shifted toward the glass screen of the door. His eyes scanned the students inside, their chatter faintly audible through the walls. Turning to Himani, he hesitated for a moment, as though searching for the right words. Finally, he spoke, his tone gentle but firm. "Kisi ke baat par dhyaan mat dena, please...."
Himani nodded, her eyes fixed on the floor. "Ji," she said softly.
"Chalo, jao," Sumedh said, stepping aside to give her space.
Himani glanced at him once, her expression hesitant, as if seeking some unspoken reassurance. Sumedh gave her a faint nod, his eyes steady, silently telling her to be strong. Gathering her courage, she reached for the door handle and slowly opened it.
"May I... come in, ma'am?" she asked, her voice trembling and barely audible, her gaze firmly planted on the ground.
Inside, the classroom fell silent. All eyes turned toward her, a mixture of curiosity and whispers beginning to ripple through the students. The teacher standing near the board paused mid-sentence, her brow furrowing slightly as she looked at Himani.
"Ye koi time hai class mein aane ka?" the teacher shouted, her voice sharp and cutting through the air like a whip.
Himani flinched at the tone, her grip tightening on her bag as her body shrank a little. "S..sorry ma'am.. wo.. wo main director sir ke paas thi," she stammered, her voice so low it was almost a whisper.
The teacher's brows furrowed deeper, her eyes narrowing. "Kya khusur-phusur kar rahi ho? Aawaz kyu nahi nikal rahi ab?" she said, her irritation evident as she leaned slightly forward, her voice booming in the silent classroom.
Himani's breath hitched. "M.. ma'am, main director sir ke paas thi," she repeated, this time slightly louder, though it still felt like she was yelling in her own ears. Her throat was dry, and her voice quivered.
"I said get out!" the teacher barked again, pointing at the door. Himani's eyes stung with unshed tears, and she took a hesitant step back, unsure of what to do.
At that moment, a calm yet firm voice broke the tension. "Ma'am," Sumedh called from behind her, stepping into view. Himani jolted slightly at the sound and turned her head to look at him, her wide eyes meeting his for a split second before darting away.
