As soon as Sumedh left the classroom with the punished group, a wave of curiosity and nervousness rippled through the students. The silence in the room was broken when one of the boys leaned toward his partner, whispering in a mix of worry and mischief, "Unhe kahan le gye sir? Aaj kya sach mein zinda nahi chorengge kya unn sab ko?" His eyes darted toward the door as if expecting Sumedh to burst back in.
The partner, equally apprehensive but trying to mask it with humor, added in a hushed tone, "Sir ne kaha tha... jo test mein perform nahi karega, use bhagwan ke paas bhej denge. Lagta hai, sach mein hi bhej dengge." He glanced around nervously, his attempt at a joke doing little to hide the tension in his voice.
Siddharth, sitting a few rows away, overheard the exchange. His usual playful demeanor faltered as he stiffened in his seat. "Bhagwan ke paas?" The words echoed in his mind, and he instinctively glanced toward the door, his heart rate quickening. For a fleeting moment, the thought of Sumedh taking such a drastic step planted a seed of fear in him.
His imagination began to run wild. What if bhai's frustration really peaked today? What if he... But Siddharth quickly shook his head, snapping out of it. "Arey nahi yaar, bhai itna bhi ruthless nahi hai... hai na?" he thought, though a sliver of doubt lingered.
Despite trying to focus on the task at hand, he found himself stealing glances toward the door, wishing he could somehow find out what was happening outside. His fingers fidgeted with his pen, and he let out a deep breath, trying to convince himself that everything was under control. The thought made his stomach twist uncomfortably.
He leaned back in his desk, his eyes darting to the clock. His foot tapped impatiently against the floor, as if urging time to move faster. With every passing second, his worry grew. He wanted to believe that his brother wouldn't go too hard, but a part of him wasn't entirely sure. "Agar zyada ho gaya, to main kya karungga ? Ruhi sab handle na kar payi to ?"
His thoughts were interrupted when another student muttered, "Ab tak nahi aaye? Matlab sach mein koi badi punishment chal rahi hai."
The comment sent a chill down Siddharth's spine. For the first time, he genuinely felt scared—not for himself, but for Ruhi.
As Sumedh entered the classroom alone, the air seemed to freeze. His sharp gaze scanned the room, and every student instinctively sat up straighter. Siddharth's eyes darted toward the door, searching for Ruhi and his friend, but they were nowhere in sight. A pang of worry shot through him. Where are they? What did bhai do?
The silence in the room was palpable. Everyone exchanged nervous glances, their curiosity piqued and anxiety heightened.
"Questions complete huwe?" Sumedh's voice broke the silence as he opened his book, his tone clipped and no-nonsense. He didn't seem interested in their curiosity.
The class, startled, scrambled to respond, "Kar rhe hain sir!" Their voices overlapped, laced with a mixture of fear and urgency.
Sumedh frowned, clearly unimpressed. He scanned the class like a hawk, his sharp eyes making students squirm. "Jaldi karo... itna time kyu lag rha hai?" His voice rose slightly, a mix of frustration and irritation. "Unn teeno ko dekh kar bhi baajh nhi aaye tum sab?" His words carried a warning that sent shivers down everyone's spine. "Tum logo ki bhi class lagani padegi kya?"
