"What!" Siddharth exclaimed, his voice echoing in the corridor. Without a second thought, he gestured urgently for Himani to follow and quickened his pace towards the canteen. His mind was racing, panic gripping him.
Himani hurried alongside him, her brows furrowing in concern as she tried to keep up. "Kya hua? Is everything fine?" she asked, her voice soft but filled with worry as she glanced at his tense expression.
Siddharth barely spared her a glance, his face pale, and his hands slightly trembling as he spoke. "Vo teeno canteen mein hi hai," he said, his voice cracking with a mix of fear and helplessness.
Himani's eyes widened slightly. She could feel the gravity of the situation in his tone. "Ohh... punish kiya hua hai kya wahan?" she asked cautiously, her voice barely above a whisper, not wanting to trigger his obvious distress further.
Siddharth nodded quickly, his throat tight, his words stumbling out. "Haan... murga banaya hai... log photos le rhe hain, mazak uda rhe hain," he managed, his tone laced with guilt and anger. He clenched his fists at the thought, his pace quickening further.
Himani's concern deepened as she spoke. "Ohh no... itni bhi kya punishment yaar... ye to humiliate karna hua," she said, her voice tinged with both sympathy and worry.
Siddharth, walking beside her with his head slightly bowed, wiped the corner of his eye discreetly. "Hmm... aap baat karo na bhai se... aapki baat nahi talenge," he said, his voice quivering slightly as the weight of his emotions pressed on him. His eyes were already welling up, but he stubbornly held back his tears.
Himani let out a sigh, looking conflicted. "Pata chale mujhe bhi firse punishment de dein," she muttered under her breath, though she still reached for her phone and dialed Sumedh.
"Hello?" Sumedh answered, his tone cheerful, unaware of the storm brewing. "Siddharth nahi pahucha abhi tak?"
Himani's voice turned serious, with a tinge of urgency. "Nahi, vo pahuch gaya. Main keh rahi thi... un teeno ki punishment kuch zyada hi nahi ho gayi hai? Sab photos-vagerah bhi le rahe hain unki... ye to humiliation hua na," she paused, her voice softening. "Please jaane dijiye na..."
There was silence for a moment on Sumedh's end, and Himani held her breath, hoping he would agree. She glanced at Siddharth, whose hopeful yet worried gaze was fixed on her, silently urging her on.
Sumedh's tone turned stern. "Iske liye phone kiya hai tumne mujhe?" he asked, his irritation evident.
Himani, unfazed, took a deep breath and pressed on. "Ji... please jaane dijiye na. Mentally bohot affect karega unhe, aur agar kisi ne koi galat kadam utha liya toh? Aaj kal log viral bhi itna jaldi karte hain. Please, rehne dijiye..." Her voice was laced with concern and urgency, pleading for compassion.
Sumedh's frustration grew. "Thoda humiliate hongge tabhi next time se padhengge ache se... tum unke baare mein mat socho," he said firmly, brushing off her arguments.
Himani's eyebrows furrowed, her voice taking on a sharper edge. "Ji, wo to aa gaya, par humiliate hone ka ye matlab to nahi hai ki wo padhai karenge! Ye kaise inter-related hua? Unhone aapko apni problems batayi na? Itna trust karke batayi, aur aap unhe solve karne ke bajaye humiliation se padhayenge? Seriously?" Her tone was borderline rude now, her frustration mirroring his.
