In the elegant, softly lit private lobby of the CROWN Hotel, the atmosphere was heavy with an unspoken tension. Jisoo and Aunt Min exchanged puzzled glances, unsure why they had been summoned by the Kims after so many years of distance. The luxurious surroundings seemed to add weight to the moment, every ticking second amplifying their curiosity.
The doors opened, and Grandma entered first, her graceful presence exuding authority, followed closely by Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kim. A polite yet strained smile curved Mrs. Kim’s lips as she greeted them.
"Thank you for coming here at my request," Mr. Kim began, his tone formal yet sincere, eyes reflecting a sense of urgency that only Uncle Min seemed to understand.
Uncle Min responded with a nod, his voice holding a subtle edge. "It's no problem. The children may have forget their past, but for us, it’s all still very clear." His gaze flickered to Jin’s absence, the unsaid memories lingering between them like a shadow.
"Hmmm," Mr. Kim replied thoughtfully, leaning back in his chair. "Has Jin remembered anything yet?"
Uncle Min sighed. "No, not yet," he admitted, a hint of frustration in his tone. "But Yoongi told us that Jin was talking to Jungkook normally... and it seems they might be getting close again."
Mrs. Kim’s eyes softened with a mix of hope and concern. "We think so too," she said quietly, her thoughts clearly dwelling on the future she envisioned.
Aunt Min, her brow furrowed, cut in, "So what should we do now?" Her voice was hesitant, as if she were unsure of the implications.
Without missing a beat, Grandma, who had remained silent until now, spoke up with the firmness that defined her. "Without any delay," she said, her tone decisive, "we should arrange their marriage. Before anything happens that might cause them both pain. If they’re beginning to feel something for each other again, we should ensure their happiness by bringing them together officially."
Jisoo’s face paled. The thought of her brother returning to the relationship that had once shattered him made her stomach twist. But she forced herself to remain composed, clenching her hands under the table where no one could see.
"But what if that doesn’t happen?" Jisoo asked abruptly, her voice sharper than she intended. A shadow passed over her eyes as she thought about all the nights she had watched Jin cry in silence, heartbroken and lost.
"If that’s the case, we’ll leave it be," Uncle Min answered, his words carrying a finality that left no room for further debate.
Mr. Kim nodded in agreement, his expression serious yet hopeful. "Yes... we’ll just suggest the idea of a relationship and let them meet face to face. If they agree, then wonderful. If not, we won’t force them into anything they don’t want."
The words hit Jisoo hard. Her mind raced, and she could feel her heart pounding with dread. I can’t let this happen, she thought. I won’t allow Jin Oppa to fall back into Jungkook’s life. Not after all the pain he went through because of him. I won’t let him cry again.
"Jisoo," her husband, Min-kyu, said softly, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Where did you drift off to?"
She blinked rapidly, forcing a strained smile. "Nowhere," she replied, not trusting her voice to say more. Her resolve hardened. No matter what, she would find a way to protect her brother from another heartbreak.
Mrs. Kim, unaware of Jisoo’s inner turmoil, suggested with a cheerful note in her voice, "Alright then, let’s have dinner together tonight. We won’t tell Jin and Jungkook about it in advance. We’ll reveal it when we’re all together."
Aunt Min nodded, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly. "Yes, that sounds good. It’ll be a surprise," she agreed, glancing at Jisoo, who remained unusually quiet.
