The next morning, Jin awoke to the gentle glow of sunlight streaming through the curtains. He lay still for a moment, letting the warmth of the light wash over him. For the first time in a while, his sleep had been free of nightmares and haunting memories. Feeling surprisingly calm, he got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
After a while, the maid entered Jin's room, carrying a tray of breakfast.
Shortly after, Taehyung arrived, dressed and ready for the day. Seeing Jin looking better, a warm smile spread across his face as he approached him.
"Good morning, Jin. How are you feeling now?"
Jin gave him a faint smile in return.
"Morning. I’m feeling much better now."
Taehyung’s heart swelled with relief and happiness seeing Jin in good spirits.
The maid set the table, and they both sat down. Taehyung, ever so gentle, served Jin politely. His considerate behavior left Jin quietly impressed.
As they ate together, Taehyung reached into his pocket and pulled out a phone, placing it gently in front of Jin.
"Here. Keep this. I think you might’ve lost your phone somewhere. You’ll need it for now."
Jin hesitated, his hand hovering before finally reaching for the phone. Their fingers brushed lightly, and Jin instinctively glanced up. Their eyes met, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to fade.
In the morning light, Jin observed Taehyung closely—his features, his aura, the inexplicable sense of familiarity he radiated. It felt different. Comforting. Like he knew this man from a time he couldn’t quite recall.
A whirlwind of thoughts raced through Jin’s mind.
Did we… really love each other in the past?
Did we… have a child together?
If it’s true… what happened to us? Why did we part ways? Where is that child?
Why anyone didn’t tell me that?
Why?
As Jin studied Taehyung, he noticed something hidden deep in his eyes—secrets buried beneath layers of pain. A longing, a yearning for something lost. And a profound sorrow he seemed desperate to conceal.
Moved by an emotion he couldn’t name, Jin slowly reached out and placed his trembling hand on Taehyung’s face.
In a fragile voice, Jin whispered, "Your eyes… they’re trying to tell me something I can’t understand."
Taehyung swallowed hard, his gaze locked onto Jin’s. For a moment, it seemed he might spill everything. But instead, his voice came out heavy with restraint.
"Even if I told you what’s in my heart… you’d never understand."
Jin’s heartbeat quickened, fear and curiosity swirling together as he asked the question gnawing at him.
"Did we… did we have… a child?"
Taehyung’s expression shifted instantly. He averted his gaze, his jaw tightening.
Jin couldn’t understand why he suddenly looked away. Taehyung’s voice turned cold, his tone distant as he said, "Finish your breakfast. We need to leave soon."
Confused and slightly hurt, Jin stared at him, trying to make sense of his sudden change. Just as he was about to press further, his eyes fell on the engagement ring Jungkook had slipped onto his finger.
Reality hit him like a wave.
He was engaged. To Jungkook. He was in love with Jungkook.
Jungkook was going to be his husband.

After a while, Taehyung drives Jin to his apartment while Jin’s car is being fetched by his driver. Throughout the drive, Taehyung keeps his focus solely on the road, his expression unreadable. Jin, on the other hand, feels restless, the unanswered question about the child consuming his thoughts.
