Lin Kong fainted so suddenly that Jiang Yuan felt a warm splash across her face as Lin Kong collapsed into her arms. Instinctively, she held Lin Kong close, paying no attention to the blood on her face, and called out anxiously, "Kong'er?"
Lin Kong was usually so lively and energetic, never having collapsed like this, spitting blood before fainting in her embrace.
Jiang Yuan's mind raced with chaotic thoughts as she felt Lin Kong's hand tremble slightly in hers, wanting to speak but holding back, trying to suppress her rising panic.
Yet Lin Kong lay motionless and unresponsive in Jiang Yuan's arms, blood still at the corner of her lips, looking grievously injured.
Supporting Lin Kong's head, Jiang Yuan's hands were stained with thick, crimson blood, a sight that was rather frightening.
Panicked, she asked, "Miss Shiqi, could you check on Kong'er?"
Shiqi, equally concerned, had been observing Lin Kong's condition but hesitated to act. Upon Jiang Yuan's plea, she took Lin Kong's wrist, frowning deeply as she assessed the situation.
Jiang Yuan felt her face drain of color, unsure where to place her hands, holding Lin Kong, who was slightly taller than her. Trying to maintain composure, she asked, "Miss Shiqi, is Kong'er in serious trouble?"
Her heart quivered with regret for having Lin Kong hastily practice martial arts, fearing it led to this.
Continuing her examination, Shiqi glanced at Jiang Yuan, relaxing her frown slightly, and reassured, "Miss Jiang, Young Master Lin has merely fainted and should be fine."
Jiang Yuan felt her heart slowly settle, discreetly wiping the blood from her face, but remained worried as blood still trickled from Lin Kong's lips, "Are you sure? Kong'er coughed up blood."
Typically, coughing blood indicated severe internal injury, and Lin Kong's unconsciousness worried Jiang Yuan.
Shiqi patiently explained, "Young Master Lin is indeed fine. She attempted to channel her inner strength to break a stone, but lacking experience, she disrupted the internal energy, leading to a backlash that caused her to faint. In reality..."
Jiang Yuan pressed, "In reality, what?"
"In reality, it's akin to sleeping deeply, though she might experience fever tonight as before," Shiqi added, avoiding Jiang Yuan's disheveled appearance.
Jiang Yuan: "..."
Sleeping?
After all her worrying, Lin Kong was simply asleep?
Jiang Yuan studied Lin Kong's face again. Aside from the blood at her lips, she appeared as she did in sleep, her earlier focus on the blood making her lose perspective.
Feeling a sudden urge to pinch Lin Kong awake, Jiang Yuan was nonetheless relieved it wasn't serious.
Her chest and face were sticky with Lin Kong's blood, which was uncomfortable and messy.
Struggling slightly, Jiang Yuan carried Lin Kong to their room, encountering Lin An and Lin Wan en route.
Their appearance was alarming, blood-stained as if fleeing a crime scene.
