Lin Kong lay on her back, Jiang Yuan’s arm resting across her chest, bringing to mind embarrassing memories. Images of small buns, dumplings, and bathing naked before Jiang Yuan flashed in her mind, her face flushing as she shyly pushed Jiang Yuan's arm away.

Jiang Yuan sensed Lin Kong's discomfort, initially mistaking it for rejection, but realized the warmth in her embrace had increased, understanding Lin Kong's reaction stemmed from embarrassment.

"Kong'er..." Jiang Yuan murmured softly, pulling Lin Kong closer, uncaring that her head rested in an embarrassing place, only finding comfort in holding her.

She had much to say to Lin Kong—words once beyond Lin Kong's understanding, now possibly comprehensible, though uncertain if Lin Kong still wished to listen.

"Hot..." Lin Kong gently pushed Jiang Yuan's arm, her face buried against Jiang Yuan’s chest, feeling dizzy and stifled.

Jiang Yuan, embarrassed, loosened her hold, allowing Lin Kong more space. Feeling the weight Lin Kong had lost, she stroked her face, wanting to see her features.

In the dim light, with only half a candle burning, Jiang Yuan leaned closer to see more clearly, her body slowly hovering over Lin Kong.

Unintentionally, Jiang Yuan’s movement startled Lin Kong, recalling their last attempt at sharing a room, Jiang Yuan atop her, filling her mind with the anticipated sequence.

Reflexively, Lin Kong kneed upwards, unused to exerting such force, unintentionally flipping Jiang Yuan off the bed.

"Ugh..."

The dull thud indicated a painful fall, likely striking her head.

Lin Kong's mind buzzed, leaping up in one fluid motion, grasping Jiang Yuan's shoulder, panic-stricken, "W-wife, are you... are you okay?"

The room fell silent, only the faint crackle of the candle and Jiang Yuan’s labored breaths audible.

Lin Kong’s face burned, wanting to withdraw her hand but concerned for Jiang Yuan’s injury, leaving her awkwardly frozen.

The simple address meant so much now, Jiang Yuan, moved, wrapped her arms around Lin Kong, tears from the pain of her fall sliding down her cheeks, soaking into Lin Kong’s thin clothes.

Feeling the warmth on her shoulder, Lin Kong panicked, stumbling over her words, "I... I..."

She hadn’t expected Jiang Yuan to cry so easily, unsure what to do next, stammering without conclusion.

Having just recovered, Jiang Yuan wouldn’t frighten Lin Kong with anything extreme. She pressed a finger to Lin Kong’s lips, savoring their softness, murmuring, "Carry me to bed."

"..." Lin Kong, observing Jiang Yuan’s face in the dim light, recalled her silly memories vividly preserved. She knew well how strong Jiang Yuan usually was, never having seen her so vulnerable.

Seeing Lin Kong unmoving, Jiang Yuan sighed, clutching her waist, murmuring, "I twisted my back."

"..." Remembering the thud, Lin Kong knew Jiang Yuan had not only twisted her back but also hit her head.
