No sooner had Lin Kong left than Shiqi turned to the shadows, calling, "Come out."

A graceful figure emerged—it was Song Keyan.

Since arriving in Yuanzhou, Song Keyan’s complexion had been poor, her demeanor listless, lips pressed tight, brow furrowed, with dark circles under her eyes, as if she hadn’t rested.

Shiqi’s expression was unfriendly, pressing her, "What are you doing there? Eavesdropping on us?"

Song Keyan looked embarrassed, retreating, her eyes dull, responding with a question, "Is he healed? And you’re his senior sister?"

She seemed genuinely surprised by these revelations, as if she hadn’t considered them.

Shiqi frowned, "What’s that to you?"

Her brow furrowed further, studying Song Keyan’s tense face, realizing, "You like Kong'er too? No, you like..."

"No!" Song Keyan’s reaction was intense. Realizing her mistake, she lowered her head, insisting, "I was just asking. I happened to pass by and overheard. Don’t read into it."

"Okay." Shiqi felt slightly relieved, recalling Lin Kong’s parting words, warning, "Miss Song, I have urgent matters. Please help take care of Jiang Yuan."

"Hurry back, I’m not as skilled as you," Song Keyan admitted, uncertain of handling trouble.

She turned toward Jiang Yuan’s room.

"I’ll be nearby, won’t go far," Shiqi said, leaping onto the surrounding walls to investigate. Their lives seemed under constant watch, unnoticed until now, indicating something amiss.

Song Keyan entered the room, seeing Jiang Yuan lying weakly. Her face was deathly pale, and dark blood stained her lips.

Hesitantly, she reached to wipe it away, fearing Jiang Yuan’s displeasure, withdrawing her hand, recalling Lin Kong’s words, enviously murmuring, "You’re lucky."

Then she sat silently beside her.

...

Meanwhile, the farther Lin Kong walked from Jiang Yuan, the more her eyes stung. She feared not returning, her heart feeling incomplete even now. She wished to stay by Jiang Yuan’s side but couldn’t bear seeing her suffer.

The note directed her to Blackwater River, a small stream used for irrigation, enriching the fields and earning its name.

Arriving at the designated spot, Lin Kong found only a tall figure in black. The riverbank was lined with dense willows. Without the man’s sword glinting in the dark, she might have missed him.

Gripping her sword, Lin Kong cautiously approached. Before reaching within three zhang, she heard the sword’s metallic hum.

Calmly, she neared, scanning the surroundings, cautiously asking, "Where’s the antidote?"

The man chuckled, dismissing her caution. With a swift move, he stood before her, flicking his sword, saying, "Once sure you won’t flee, I’ll send it to her."
