Lin Kong walked absentmindedly, dwelling on the awkward moment when she called Jiang Yuan "Wife," but Jiang Yuan didn’t hear. Such a declaration required courage, and Lin Kong lacked it to repeat herself.
She planned to return and celebrate her birthday with Jiang Yuan, leaving some things to discuss later. Suddenly, Jiang Yuan groaned in pain and collapsed without warning.
Reacting quickly, Lin Kong caught her, anxiety filling her eyes, "What’s wrong?"
Instantly, Jiang Yuan’s complexion turned deathly pale, reminiscent of her high fever before.
Struggling for composure, Lin Kong whispered, "Wife?"
Jiang Yuan seemed to hear Lin Kong’s voice, her lips moving silently before a gush of blood poured out, consciousness slipping away.
"Wife!" Seeing the blood, Lin Kong knew this wasn’t like before.
Cradling Jiang Yuan, she hurried home, passersby murmuring as Lin Kong’s face grew cold. Using her lightness skill, she swiftly returned.
All the while, Jiang Yuan coughed blood, and Lin Kong felt the same panic Jiang Yuan must have felt when she bled. Rushing into the house, she called out, "Sister..."
In the courtyard, Shiqi held a delicate sword, a faint smile on her lips, ready to test it when Lin Kong’s urgent voice reached her.
In moments, she stood before Lin Kong, seeing Jiang Yuan smeared with blood. She sheathed her sword, asking, "What happened?"
"Please help her," Lin Kong pleaded, noticing Jiang Yuan’s forehead glistening with sweat, her face ghostly white, like a wilting flower on the verge of collapse.
Carrying Jiang Yuan, Lin Kong’s hands trembled as she laid her on the bed, clutching her sleeves unconsciously.
"Kong'er, don’t panic." Shiqi, seasoned in handling emergencies, assumed Jiang Yuan was injured, feeling her pulse, her expression darkening. Sealing several acupoints, she asked, "What happened on the street?"
Realizing the gravity, Lin Kong recalled, stammering, "We were strolling when she collapsed."
"That’s it?"
"She was bumped by a child," Lin Kong realized what happened.
Ignoring Shiqi’s presence, she undressed Jiang Yuan, revealing her smooth abdomen, a black patch spreading visibly.
Lin Kong paled, spotting a tiny red dot below Jiang Yuan’s navel, as if pricked by a fine needle.
Shiqi frowned, murmuring, "Is this the legendary Soul-Chasing Needle?"
"Do you know how to help her?" Lin Kong, knowing little, struggled to stay calm. With Jiang Yuan in danger, she couldn’t.
Shiqi shook her head, "I’ve heard of the needle, but don’t know the source. Stay calm."
But Lin Kong couldn’t, rising, fists clenched, "I’ll find that child."
Shiqi stopped her, "Stay here, describe the child’s appearance. I’ll have Jing Xuan search."
