We didn't make it to Camp Half-Blood.

Every time I tried to find a path there, it backfired. Monsters were always waiting to attack us.

Adrien was surprisingly very skilled with a bow—I'd say he could rival the Apollo cabin. But Dominic was a pain, and he was definitely hiding something. I am going to find out what it was.

Before we left Tennessee, I let them stop at their home to grab some stuff. Now, five days later, we were lying on top of a train heading north-I think, with only the stars to guide us.

The night sky was clear, and the stars were breathtaking. I could see so many constellations.

"Hey, are you okay?" Dominic asked Adrien.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Adrien scratching his back. He'd been doing that since yesterday.

"Yeah, I think I got bit by a mosquito," he answered, still scratching.

I was still staring at the stars.

"That's Orion," Dominic said, scooting up next to me.

"I know," I replied, side-eyeing him, did he think I didn't know my stars?

"I don't know what that one is, though," he said, pointing at a constellation similar to Orion.

I frowned because I did. "That's Zoe."

"Do you like the stars?" Dominic asked. What was with him and all these questions?

"Yes, actually, I do. A friend of mine told me that the stars used to be brighter, but mortals polluted the sky, and now they're dimmer." I frowned, wishing I could see the stars in their full glory.

Dominic must have noticed my frown because he moved back to sit with Adrien. I could hear him whispering something, but I couldn't make out what it was

Just as I was lost in thought, something incredible happened. The stars suddenly grew brighter, illuminating the night sky like a celestial spotlight. It was as if the universe was putting on a show just for us.

I sat up a bit straighter and let out a breathy laugh.

The sky was glowing purple and the stars were so big it looked like if I reached up I could touch one.

I turned my head and Dominic was sat beside me as if he wanted to see my reaction.

A sky full of starts and he was staring at me.

We stared at each other for a long time before he broke the silence "do your eyes always do that?"

Before i could respond, a shooting star streaked across the sky, leaving a shimmering trail behind it. It felt magical, almost like a sign.
