When I leave it has stopped raining and the sun is now shining on the kingdom Erebor. "Edlyn!? Did you hear?" I turn to find Milly barreling toward me. I start shaking my head in confusion. "The whole city is talking about it."

"What is it Mill?" We start walking down the road together.

"Thror is looking for a new servant to help out around the kingdom..." She huffs. "That gives one of us a chance to see what Erebor really looks like." She squeaks. My head turns back to the kingdom towering high above our city.

"I don't know Mill, I'm not too sure if I'm interested in it anymore." Which is a complete lie I want to roam through that kingdom and be nosey. After what Cindy said scares me a little bit, there is something in that mountain that could be dangerous. There is something there that might attract something more powerful. I shiver at the thought.

"What? We've always wondered what was in that mountain Ed!" I grab her arm and get in her face.

"Listen Milly! The dwarves are not our business...I should know." I scoff. Her face contorts as she pulls away from me.

"What happened last night Ed?"

"Nothing...do what you want too. You can tell me about it." I smirk and continue to walk home, surprisingly she doesn't follow me. Once I'm inside I lean against the door for a minute, thinking if I should try and become a servant. Maybe I could find out what Cindy is talking about...figure out why the king is growing sick. I quickly take of my cloak hanging it up and sitting in the armchair reaching for my harp. I play it a little helping me to calm down but then my dad burst through the door locking it tight.

"Storm's coming Ed! It's a bad one too. Do not leave this house at any cost my dear." I look at him and nod. He smiles at me and I continue to play my harp. When he sits down to rest I hear thunder crack across the sky outside. I've never been very fond of storms so it makes me jump. Throughout the night it only gets worse, to the point we hear things fall outside. My father and I huddle up together in his room. I'm shaking against him as he tries to comfort me.

In the morning I wake up and go outside with my dad. Some houses have been destroyed, a lot of people are crying and moaning. It hurts me to see our city sad like this. Someone comes up next to me grabbing my hand. I turn to find Milly, she smirks at me. "Sorry abou-" A booming deep voice cuts me off.

"People of Dale! For those with no shelter my grandfather has decided that we, Durin's folk give you a comfortable home in Erebor. At least till the majority of this city is cleaned up." Thorin turns to some other dwarves then they all scatter about going to different families. He then proceeds to walk down the road toward us. Maybe Cindy was wrong about dwarves.

"Anyways I'm sorry about yesterday." I whisper.

"It's fine...I thought about it and serving royalty is probably a bad idea." She giggles and then Thorin makes his round to us. His eyes are on mine and it sends chills up and down my spine.

"Prince Thorin, all of us are fine." My father says.

"Very well then, you should at least come to the kingdom we'll provide food." He turns to my father and then walks off. I take a deep breath afraid he'd mention the festival. I'm sure he completely forgot about it...then he slows a little his head turns just a bit but he quickly picks up the pace once more. Maybe the prince is ill too...
