Over the past week I had written Thorin at least three letters and hadn't received a reply back to either of them. I've grown sick over the week, it's killing me being away from them. It doesn't at all help seeing Milly and Ardy in the street, they just ignore me as if I am nothing to them anymore. I get up from my chair and go outside getting some fresh air. It is a beautiful day today. Kids are playing on the small carousel in the town square. From a distance I see my father wave and I smirk.

Everything is so lively...almost too lively. Then I feel this great wind almost as if there is a storm. I look up to the sky and then the horn sounds. Everyone rushes to their homes and I get caught in the crowd looking for my father. Then I feel someone pull on me.

"Edlyn! To safety!" I turn around finding Cindy.

"Wh-what's going on?" I ask trembling.

"Just follow me!"

(Thorin's P.O.V.)

"Dragon!" I yell to the city of Erebor. Everyone scatters about the kingdom.

"Thorin!?" I turn to find Frerin pointing at the city of Dale. What once was a prosperous city is now becoming ruin and ash. My eyes grow wide...Edlyn. He turns to me wide eyed. "What do we do?" I feel a tear slide down my face.

"We need to protect this kingdom...it's coming this way! Find Dis I'll find grandfather!" I shout. I watch as the dragon now makes its way to us. "Archers at the ready!" Each of them loading their bows in unison. Fire starts coming down upon us, I grab Balin and pull him behind a wall. I find every archer dead and it sickens me to see the sight.

"Thorin...you need to find Thror and your father." Balin says breathlessly.

"Make sure every man is fighting." I say patting his shoulder then I run down the hall to find my grandfather and father.

(Edlyn's P.O.V.)

I come out of Cindy's house bricks fall right in front of me. I back away quickly from the mess. Burned flesh hits my nose and I am frantically looking for my father but he is nowhere in sight. I start trying to lift brick and rock off people avoiding any fire that I come across. Then I feel someone spin me around and hug me.

"You're alive..." Milly says into my neck. She pulls back looking at me shaking her head.

"Milly I tried-" I look at Ardy behind her...his face falling. "Edlyn...it's...it's your father." He says. I instantly run back the way he came from. My father lays there in peace...half his body is burnt. I try my hardest to keep composure but I wind up falling to my knees screaming. I don't just do it for him but for everyone we have lost. Our city now gone...my only family now lying dead before me.

(Thorin's P.O.V.)

I only find my father, my grandfather is nowhere to be found. We all try to fight the dragon but many dwarves lose their lives in the process so many people start fleeing Erebor. I nearly get squashed with the dragon's large foot at one point. Once I get up I run to the basement where the dragon is heading. Thror stands in the middle holding the Arkenstone and admiring his mounds of treasure that starts to become a huge mess as the dragon enters.

I run to my grandfather grabbing him...pulling him away from something that was once his and once mine. In the process he drops the Arkenstone...gold pours over it.

"We must go!" I yell and we make our way back to the Grand Hall. Everyone rushes out the broken gates of Erebor not knowing where to run. Once we get outside my eyes meet a very familiar set of blue ones. "Help us!? We have nothing!" I yell at the Elven King Thranduil but he only turns away with his army of elves. Hatred boils in me as I help my kin flee the place that was once our home.

"Thorin!?" Frerin pushes through the crowd. "Ride to her...see if she is okay." I look at Dale which is still on fire.

"I fear as to what I may find Frerin." I drop my head.

"Go..." He says. Dwalin pulls a horse through the crowd. I jump on it as quickly as possible, riding to Dale.
