My eyes opened. It was bright. Cold. Muffled. Serene. The scent of rubber and copper rushed up my sensors, and the whirring within my mind began to subside. Tingles formed in my limbs as my eyes adjusted to the room.
Something felt... different inside me. As I looked up at the mess of cables and wiring that hung above me, I no longer felt a stinging itch deep inside my chest. This feeling was, hollow. Lighter. I did not feel the need to... fix it.
I looked up, and felt fine.
Beside me lay Robot Grian. He remained still. The wires that once covered him were now removed, draping over the side of the table.
I shimmied off my own table and stood next to him. Gently, I took his hand. The cold steel felt heavy in my palm, but deep inside, I felt a slight warmth.
