Even through the window, Lisa could tell how hard the man was hitting the boy. Plus, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had seen the man somewhere before.
"Oh my god. What kind of a parent is that? How could he hit the boy so hard?" Jennie saw what was going on outside as well, and her heart ached. "Besides, whatever the problem is, couldn't he wait until they are home before he explains it to the child?"
"You are right about that." Taehyung nodded and agreed with his girlfriend. "Kids have self-esteem too. It's not good for kids to be hit in public like that."
Jennie's heart ached when she saw the kid letting the adult hit him like that with his head lowered. He did not cry or fuzz. "How could that man bring himself to do that? The kid is so young. Why isn't anyone going up to them to try and stop him?"
"Lili eat." Jungkook did not look outside. Lisa was all that he could see.
He learned carefully and picked up the bones in the fish one by one. He was slow, but he did his task seriously. The white flesh of the fish inside the little ceramic bowl had no bones at all. Under the bright light of the restaurant, it looked very tempting.
After Jungkook was done picking out all the bones and placing the fish next to Lisa, he looked at her with anticipation, waiting for her compliments.
At this time, the man outside grabbed the back of the little boy's collar roughly. He was so forceful that the little boy took a few steps backward and almost fell onto the ground.
When the little boy looked up, Lisa saw his face clearly, and she was taken aback a little. It was the same little boy that she had run into during the fire at the hotel!
Even though the boy was one year older by now, she could tell that it was him right away.
She didn't think that she would run into him here. Lisa looked at the man next to him. He was the little boy's father. No wonder she thought he looked familiar.
Just like how it was before, whenever something happened, the first thing the man did was to hit the boy.
That upset Lisa.
Not getting Lisa's response, Jungkook leaned toward her and looked in the direction that she was looking at. He happened to see the little boy's face.
The very next second, he saw the middle-aged man raise his hand and slap the little boy hard.
The little boy's fair and soft cheek turned red instantly. The handprint on his face was obvious.
Jungkook's lips were pinched shut tightly as he glared at the middle-aged man.
Lisa could sense the change in Jungkook. Turning to look at him, she saw 5 little black clouds with lightning popping out in the indicator over Jungkook's head.
He was very, very, very, very, very angry!
Lisa was a little surprised. It would seem that Jungkook had recognized the little boy as well.
Jungkook was not like her. She had just traveled back yesterday and met the little boy. As such, their meeting was still fresh in her memory. To Jungkook, however, the incident had happened over a year ago.
She didn't think that he would still remember the little boy.
When she thought about it some more, however, Jungkook recognizing the boy made a lot of sense since he was the one who saved the little boy.
Lisa placed her hand over his. "Do you want to go help him?"
Jungkook blinked. He saw that the little boy was struck again. He nodded. "Yes help."
"Alright, let's go help him." Lisa stood up and said to Jennie and Taehyung, "We will be right back."
Jennie had overheard their conversation and couldn't help but ask, "Sister Lili, are you going to help that little boy?"
"Yes. Jungkook and I had seen that little boy before. We sort of know him."
"I'll go with you." Jennie's fists had hardened a while back when she saw the man keep hitting the little boy.
The boy was so young. What did he know? What kind of scum would hit a child the way that he did? He shouldn't do that, even if he was the parent. This was child abuse.
"It's alright. We will be back soon. You should start with the food." Lisa left, holding Jungkook's hand in hers.
