"I......" Jennie was about to say something more when Taehyung stopped her.
"Just stay here. Miss Kim will take care of it."
Jennie puffed her cheeks and decided to take her boyfriend's advice. "Alright then. But Sister Lili is too nice. All those people around just watched. Nobody even thought to go up and talk to the man, except for Sister Lili."
Taehyung nodded.
Jennie idolized Lisa even more. She thought about how Lisa had noticed that something was off with Professor Yuan and also saved her out of kindness.
She truly hoped that someone, who was as pretty and kind as Lisa, would have all the luck in the world.
Lisa went outside with Jungkook. Before they even got close, she could hear the woman in heels shouting frantically, "What are you doing? Don't think I will let you off the hook even if you beat your son to death. You are going to compensate me one way or another."
The middle-aged man dragged the little boy by his collar and said to the woman in high heels, "I don't have any money. I'll beat him up for you to make you feel better. I will stop when you say it's enough."
Having said that, he smacked the little boy's head hard again.
As they walked closer, Lisa could see red handprints on both the little boy's cheeks. His eyes were lowered, as though he couldn't feel any pain. He did not make a noise and just let his father hit him the way that he did.
Since he did not cry like a normal child would, the woman in high heels thought that they were just putting up a show in front of her.
Lisa's eyes dimmed, and anger rose in her chest.
Next to her, five more little black clouds with lightning popped up above Jungkook's head.
"How much? I'll pay for him." Lisa couldn't help but speak up when he saw that the man was about to hit the little boy again.
The woman in high heels and the middle-aged man were both taken aback. Apparently, neither of them expected that a stranger that had nothing to do with the situation would be willing to pay.
Everyone who was there looked over at the girl who appeared out of nowhere and the tall, handsome man next to her.
They were, once again, stunned by their outstanding appearance.
"How much?" asked Lisa again.
"Are you really going to pay me for him?" The woman in heels asked again in disbelief. How could there be a silly person like that?
"All you need to give me is the amount." Lisa's voice was cold.
The woman in heels gestured with her hand. "5,000 yuan."
Lisa gave her a withering look. "5,000 yuan is enough for a brand new phone. You only cracked your screen, and that would only cost a few hundred to fix. 1,000 yuan tops."
She was rich, but she was no sucker.
"Besides, you were playing on your phone instead of watching where you were going. You deserved what had happened to you. Then you bullied a little kid persistently. You are very shameless." Lisa scolded her coldly.
"Then you pay me 1,000 for a new screen." The woman gritted her teeth.
Lisa didn't feel like fighting with her. "500 at most. If I go and ask the shop for their surveillance video footage, you won't even get a penny."
"Fine. 500 then." The woman in heels came to terms with the situation and just wanted to take the money and head off.
After the woman in heels left, the middle-aged man looked over and grinned at her. "Thank you so much."
Lisa looked at him coldly. "You shouldn't have taken it out on the child."
"You see, I am broke, and I didn't know what else to do." The middle-aged man gave her an embarrassed smile and left holding the little boy's hand.
As Lisa looked on as they walked away, she suddenly noticed that the little boy was limping.
Lisa recalled that the little boy had no problem with his legs during the fire at the hotel as they ran to safety.
However, as the man scolded and dragged the little boy away now, the little boy limped, lifting his left leg carefully as though he was handicapped.
What had happened to the poor little boy?
