Lisa dashed out of the hotel and hid behind a tree. Shortly after, she returned to being invisible.
She then walked back into the hotel with a calm look.
"Mom, let's bring Kook upstairs to get changed. I worry that he will get sick."
Mingyu's lips were pale, and his clothes and hair were drenched. He was, however, showing that he worried and cared about Jungkook more than his own well-being. He didn't seem to mind what the girl had said about him earlier at all and appeared like he had nothing to hide.
Mother Jeon still remembered what the girl had said. The anger on her face didn't seem to be faked.
But it didn't look like her older son was lying either.
All along, Mingyu had always doted on and cared about Jungkook. He always put Jungkook before everything else. Why would he suddenly decide to harm Jungkook?
Besides, he was the one who brought Jungkook out. If anything happened to Jungkook, he would be the number one suspect. That would not be a wise move on his part.
Mother Jeon pondered over it some more. Could it all be a misunderstanding? Maybe the girl was too far away and thought she saw Mingyu pushing Jungkook into the water when he was, in fact, trying to pull him out?
Many thoughts crossed Mother Jeon's mind in a very short period of time.
Mother Jeon turned to look at Father Jeon for guidance on what to do next.
"Bring Kook upstairs, Mingyu. You go change as well. I'll have someone look into the incident," said Father Jeon.
Mingyu looked the same as he was before, all the more looking like he had nothing to hide. "Alright, I am going to head upstairs to change."
Lisa saw Father Jeon make a call and have someone look into the surveillance video in the southern area of the resort.
Lisa didn't have high hopes for the surveillance video. Given Father Jeon's thorough personality, he must have had someone look into the incident last time when Jungkook fell into the water as well.
Even after investigating, they still believed Mingyu's story in the end, meaning they were not able to get their hands on any evidence as to what truly happened.
Sure enough, Father Jeon quickly received a call from his subordinate, informing him that there were no cameras in the south end.
The resort area was huge, and they couldn't possibly have cameras covering every inch of the place. Besides, the south end was still under development and had little foot traffic. All the more why they would not have cameras installed in that area.
Mingyu knew about that. Which was why he was able to pull his stunt confidently without any worries about the repercussions.
Since Lisa was prepared for the outcome, she was not disappointed by the news.
Regardless of whether Father Jeon was truly suspicious of Mingyu, Mingyu would know to mind himself after this incident, which was the least that Lisa could hope for.
Lisa followed Father Jeon upstairs and happened to see Mother Jeon walking out of Jungkook's room. Inside, Jungkook stubbornly stood straight, refusing to move while still wearing his wet clothes on.
"Kook just stood there the whole time and refused to change out of his wet clothes." Mother Jeon was troubled. She had no idea what had happened to her son. It was like he was waiting for someone.
Lisa walked inside and immediately asked Jungkook. "Why haven't you changed out of your wet clothes yet? You will catch a cold like this."
Jungkook looked over at Lisa. He thought Odd Big Sister had disappeared again.
The young man was so drenched that water was still dripping off of him, forming a small puddle on the floor where he stood.
With his pale lips pinched shut, he quietly looked at her with his limpid pitch-black eyes. Water droplets trickled down from his bangs, making him look like an abandoned puppy. He looked very pitiful.
"I am not going anywhere just yet. Go and change out of your wet clothes first." Lisa comforted the young man.
Jungkook blinked, and under Mother Jeon's surprised look, he picked up the clothes that had been prepared for him and walked inside of the bathroom.
Mother Jeon let out a sigh and said to Father Jeon, "I had just told you that our son refused to change, and he went to get changed. Do you think he's afraid of you?"
Father Jeon wasn't sure what to make of that. After reflecting on it quickly, however, he didn't agree with his wife's conclusion. He was very certain because his son did not pay him any attention since he had gotten upstairs.
