Watching the scene unfold in front of her, Lisa realized that she had gone back to the day when Jungkook witnessed Hwang Dahai cripple Little Hyunjin.
Hwang Dahai, who had drunk as usual, saw Little Hyunjin accidentally break a plate. He was so angry that he grabbed Hyunjin by his collar, intending to throw him out.
"Not only do you eat and not work, you even break my plates and bowls!" Hwang Dahai dragged Little Hyunjin over to the trash bin and forcefully shoved him aside.
Little Hyunjin's petite body crashed into the trash bins that were overflowing with garbage.
"Ever since your arrival, I had been fired from my work, and everywhere I turned, misfortunes followed me. I even did poorly over my mahjong tables." Hwang Dahai pointed at Little Hyunjin with the rod in his hand. Drunk, he shouted at him angrily, "You are just a s**t magnet. Even your mom didn't want to be around you and left you with me."
Bringing up his wife, who had disappeared, made him even angrier. Gritting his teeth, he realized that the more he looked at Little Hyunjin, the angrier he became.
Hwang Dahai raised the rod toward Little Hyunjin, looking like he was about to strike him with it.
Lisa's eyes darkened. She spent 10 little suns in exchange for 10 minutes to materialize.
She rushed toward them, pulled Little Hyunjin into her arms, and dodged the rod before it landed on them.
Missing his target, Hwang Dahai stumbled a few steps to steady himself before he turned and saw Little Hyunjin standing to one side. "You dare to dodge, you little brat?"
Although Little Hyunjin's dark eyes were blank, he felt that he was enveloped in warmth.
Lisa had pulled Little Hyunjin to one side.
Seeing that Hwang Dahai had raised the rod again angrily, she walked up with a cold look and ripped the rod out of his hand while he was unprepared.
This afternoon was in the dead of summer. It was hot, and the sun was beating down on everyone. Even just moving around could make one drenched in sweat. Most people would stay home with their air-conditioner running in weather like this. As such, there weren't very many people around them.
Hwang Dahai was taken aback. He was baffled by the rod being taken away from him.
He wanted to shout at whoever had taken the rod away from him, but when he turned, he saw the rod hovering midair.
Hwang Dahai rubbed his eyes hard, but the rod was still floating. Pointing at the rod, he giggled, "My rod is floating in the air?"
"What is going on?" Stumbling, Hwang Dahai laughed at the rod foolishly.
The very next second, however, he saw the rod being lifted high up into the air before it swung at him violently.
"Oh!"
The rod struck him on his stomach, making him double up in pain.
With the rod in her hand, Lisa recalled what the bodyguard had told her. He said that Hwang Dahai had beaten Little Hyunjin up, broke his leg, and did not get him any treatment, leaving him crippled.
She had seen Little Hyunjin limping on his foot. He was just a 5-year-old child, but Hwang Dahai didn't let him off and abused him till he was crippled.
Lisa, who remembered all these things, looked very cold and continued to swing the rod at Hwang Dahai again.
"OW OW OW," cried Hwang Dahai.
Thinking about how angry and upset Jungkook must have been when he witnessed Little Hyunjin, whom he had saved, have his leg broken, Lisa swung the rod at Hwang Dahai again.
Over and over again.
Much like what he had done to Little Hyunjin, a defenseless little boy that he as a step-father was supposed to protect..
"OW OW OW. It hurts! It really hurts!" Hwang Dahai protected his head reflexively as he curled up on the ground. "Stop hitting me! Stop! Somebody help!"
Little Hyunjin watched curiously and quietly to one side as the rod went up and down repeatedly. He felt that the rod was playing a game.
His little lips even curved upward as though he had spotted something interesting. The scene had attracted his attention.
