The next morning, everyone loaded up into the RV. It was a very tight squeeze, but all of you managed it. Not really having any other choice. Luckily, in that town Shane had found an extremely run down and beat up rusty red car. Daryl and Shane together got her running so that was where Carl, Judith, Michonne and Rick drove. The rest of you were crammed in that RV. Eric was a champ about having to limp out to the RV, and then through it so he could lay in the back. He refused to let Aaron or Abraham carry him. Apparently Abraham had carried him into the plant originally when they came across him with a tire rolled onto his left ankle. Eric had said it would be too embarrassing to let that happen again, even if he enjoyed the fact that Abraham made him feel like he didn't weigh anything at all. That only made you laugh and solidified the fact that you really liked Eric. He was unapologetically himself and you loved that. You liked Aaron too. He was a perfect match for Eric's semi wildcard attitude. You knew if all went well they'd be good friends in Alexandria. Even if Eric obviously thought your husband was extremely hot. You couldn't blame Eric or even be mad about it, simply because it was so true. Daryl however had absolutely no idea what to make of the fact that Eric was shamelessly flirting with him. You kinda think he did it because Eric knew, Daryl didn't know what to think about him. Which was as also kinda hilarious.
You and Daryl stood leaning up against the kitchen bar of the RV about an hour later, watching as Eugene attempted to teach Tara how to play spades and hearts. Only after you absolutely dragged Eugene, Maggie, and Glenn six times in a row. Glenn only said it was a good damn thing y'all weren't playing for money because your of absolutely broke all of them. Eugene even said he never pegged you for a card shark but that he should have known. You couldn't help but agree with him on that. Abraham was driving, and he even chimmed in and told them how you had in fact secured one of his pay checks after he tried to bet money on card games back in the day. That only made Shane cackle because you'd done the same thing to him once or twice. It only made Daryl snicker lightly with a proud smirk after he realized you were actually card shark in disguise. Now you stood there watching Tara try to learn to play. Of course you were helping her, making her win much to Glenn, Maggie, and Eugene disapproving grumbling. You just told them that they were sore losers which made Tara laugh in agreement because she was kicking their asses. You only backed off when Rosita told Abraham to look out the window.
Your brows knit at the sight of Washington, DC. The city looked absolutely untouched from way up on the road you all were on. Washington monument stood tall, and proud as ever still. She really stood out with the sun beaming off her beautiful white stone as she reaches up for the sky. So did the White House, that looked so small from way up here. All of it still down there, practically glowing white in the early noon sun. You tear your eyes away to grab Daryl's hand and pull him up to the front with you so he could see. "Look, baby. It's DC." You tell him as you point through the window at the city visible from the curve of the road, that dropped off into a cliff just past the guard rail. His eyes widen slightly as he takes in the sight of the capitol for the first time. You smile lightly, your eyes not taking in the view of DC, but him. The look of wonder and pure amazement on his face was so much more gorgeous than the city below. His beautiful crystal blue eyes full of wonder as he stares down at it, trying to take it all in to be able to remember it. "Somthin' ain't it?" Abraham asks him, grinning at the look on his face as well. "Hell yeah." Daryl says as he glances back over at you when the view slides past as Abraham takes the corner. Though you did notice Abraham slowed down just a bit, just to let him take a good look at the city below.
"Cain't believe I'm in Washington." Daryl says lowly to you as he leans back against the sink behind himself. Your soft smile sticks as you lean against it as well, your body leaning into his some. "Believe it, cause you are." You tell him softly. So glad that you'd gotten him out of Georgia. Knowing that he'd never of admitted it, but he had always wanted to see the states. He'd always wanted to leave Georgia. He had just never had the means, money, or time to do so before the fall. Then after the fall, he was just so focused on surviving, and slowly, focusing on keeping you alive too. He'd become so wrapped up in it that he never thought it would be possible to make it this far. Not with the new threat of walkers and dangerous, lawless people all over the place. But here he was. Beautiful, badass wife, and in Washington, DC. He was in DC with you and he almost thought he may be dreaming. "Hey- how much longer we got?" Abraham asks over at all of you. Rosita looks down at the map, "Looks like we're a little over half way there. Why?" She asks over at Abraham who looks down at the dash. "We can make it." He says to her with a smile. You glance over at the dash, making out the red, low battery voltage warning now illuminated on the dash. Your brows furrow slightly, wondering if Abraham was being optimistic or just refusing to believe we wouldn't make it. Not when we'd made it through hell just to get here. "We can make it." Abraham repeats again to himself. Definitely was out of refusal. You sigh lightly, hoping he was right.
