The ride into town seemed like it was taking forever, and the silence between you and your twin brother wasn't exactly as comfortable as it usually was. It was obvious he didn't know how to feel about you siding with Shane and blatantly allowing him to act as erratically as he did. Though Rick couldn't bring himself to even attempt to scold you for siding with Shane. He knew he had been a fool for allowing Hershel to convince him in adding into the walkers in the barn. He also knew finding out Sophia had been in the barn whole time was as devastating for you as it was for him. He knew from your initial reaction that you wholeheartedly blamed yourself, but in a way he was afraid to try and talk to you about it. Especially when you just sat there on your knees before that little dead girl. It scared him to know if he hadn't of ran up behind you and shot her, that you'd of let her rip into you. It made his chest hurt at the thought of having to watch you die that way, all because you blamed yourself for what happened to her. Deep down, he felt like it was just as much his burden as it was yours. He just wished more than anything that he had stayed with Sophia instead of drawing away the walkers from her.
Rick glances over at you as you lean against the passenger door, your chin in your palm, staring at the trees wizzing past you in a blur. You were obviously thinking deeply about how this could go, if you'd even find Hershel like you had promised Maggie. "..Daryl seems like he really loves you, (Y/n). I honestly didn't think that man had that kind of emotion in him." Glenn says dryly, suddenly, making you turn your head from the window towards him in the backseat behind Rick. A slightly amused look graces Ricks face, completely understanding how Glenn would think that of your boyfriend, who frankly was very emotionally conservative, other than the occasional anger outburst. Daryl was very gruff on the outside and didn't let anyone else see the side of him that he lets you see. It was as if he only lets you see the real him because he loves you, but you were confused on where that comment came from. "..What changed your mind about him?" You question curiously, as Rick looks at you briefly, then at Glenn in the rear view mirror. "I never thought he cared about anyone really. I mean it was obvious he liked you, but it was way I thought he was going to die when he thought you had.. I knew then and there he loved you more than he's probably ever loved anyone in his whole life- I mean when you move, he literally moves with you.. I think I'm jealous of that?" He tells you, kinda questioning himself before moving nervously in the back to try and get comfortable.
You look to Rick slightly confused who nods his head slightly, understanding exactly what Glenn had said because it was true. Daryl would only ever bend if it was for you. It was a good thing, but Rick was also kind of confused about the sudden hyper-analyzation of his sister and her boyfriends relationship. You brows furrow as you turn around in your seat to face Glenn who was now looking down, fiddling with his finger nervously, obviously wanting to get something off his chest. "Glenn, why would you be jealous of something you've already found?" You ask him kinda baffled, genuinely curious at what could of truly sparked this rabbit hole of thought that he'd fallen down. He shifts again kind of uncomfortable over your consistent gaze before he looks up at you but only briefly, "..Maggie said she loves me." He admits as if he didn't believe it, his eyes immediately darting back down. You look over at Rick with a soft smile that you share, overjoyed for your friend despite his somber tone when he spilled the news. Your brother hums happily, having seen that coming from a mile away like you had. Glenn shakes his head a little though, "She doesn't mean it.. I mean she can't. I mean- Well- She's just upset or confused.. She's probably feeling, like-" Glenn starts to rant before Rick cuts him off.
"-I think she's smart enough to know what she's feeling." Rick tells him as he stares at Glenn through the rear view mirror briefly before his ice blue eyes look back to the road. You smirk, "I know she's smart enough to know. Jesus Glenn- She's had a huge thing for you since you met her. It's only natural for her to fall for a good guy like you." You add on to Ricks point making your brother nod completely agreeing with you. "No. No.." Glenn says in complete denial earning a small laugh from Rick and a snicker from you. "No, you know what? She wants to be in love, so she's- she need something to.. to like hold onto." Glenn says making you shake your head with a grin, in disbelief to how blind this man could be. "Glenn, it's pretty obvious to everyone Maggie loves you, and not just because you're one of the last men standing." Rick tells him as he glances from the road back to Glenn sitting behind him. "So what's the problem?" Your brother asks him curiously. Glenn hesitates, moving the shot gun in his lap a little before he looks back up at you. "..I didn't say it back." He admits as if he regrets not doing so. Rick hums, understanding now where this has come from while you nod your head some understanding as well.
