Rick held onto you for well over fifteen minutes like his life depended on it, and you let him. He went through what seemed like a grief driven panic attack before he finally fell silent and limp. Almost too silent, aside from his shocked panting breathes that he still drew in. Once you finally could pull back from him because the baby had started to cry, you realized he was completely staring through his surroundings. Letting you know he was definitely in a state of shock. The thousand yard stare was something you'd never forget, especially since you'd seen it so many times before. Still you stayed knelt beside him as Daryl leaned down before you two as he called your twins name. He waves his hand in front of Rick's face, "Rick, ya with us? Rick?" He asks very concerned before glancing over to you, concern and worry within those blue eyes of his. You shake your head, letting him see know he wasn't alright nor was he hearing anything before you watch Maggie hand Carl his baby sibling. "Let me see the baby." Hershel demanded and Carl walks slowly towards him. Daryl stands as well, turning to Carl and the baby, "What are we gon feed it?" He asks Hershel quickly, not bothering to hide his genuine concern as he starts towards them in a hurry. "We got anythin' a baby can eat?" He asks again, full of worry as Hershel silently inspects the newborn. You stand slowly, still letting Rick lean against your leg as he sits there still in a deep state of shock. "The good news is, she looks healthy." Hershel says making you sigh in pure relief before you look down at Rick. You hand touches the top of your brothers curly jet black head, "A girl. You have a daughter, brother.." you say down to him softly, even though he didn't move or react at all. "But she needs formula. And soon, or she won't survive." Hershel says to Daryl before glancing over at you and your brother.

Panic floods your veins all over again while Daryl shakes his head in pure refusal. "Nope. No way. Not her. We ain't losing nobody else- I'm going for a run!" Daryl says seriously as he slings his cross bow over his head and immediately starts for his bike. "I'll back you up." Maggie says with a shaky yet determined voice. "Me too." You and Glenn say at the same time. Daryl glances at you almost as if he was going to argue but he didn't, "Alright, think of where we're goin." He says to you three before he calls Beth over to ask her to keep and eye on Carl. You look over to Axel and Oscar, "You two! Get the fence, too many walkers pile up n we're gonna have a major fuckin' problem." You say as you point to them and they both nod at you. "Glenn, Maggie, (Y/n), vàmonos." Daryl says curtly, impatient with wanting to get on the road as fast as possible. You nod when Rick stands suddenly making your eyes snap back over to him as he snatches the axe off the ground. "Rick-" "Brother-" you and Maggie call at the same time but he's already through the cage door and up the stairs heading for the cell block. You almost went after him but you were torn, knowing your nieces life was at stake. "Get the gate- Come on! We're gon lose the light!" Daryl yells as he starts towards the vehicles.

You growl frustrated as you take off in a jog after Daryl with Maggie and Glenn right behind you. "There's the piggly wiggly on 85!" Glenn tells Daryl. "No, the baby sections been cleared. Lori asked me and (Y/n) to keep an eye out. Haven't had much luck.." Maggie tells them both making you shake your head in frustration. "Is there any place that hasn't been completely looted?" Daryl asks with impatience as he takes his cross bow off his back again, putting it on his bike. "We saw signs for a shopping center just north of here." Glenn says making you sigh. "There too much shit on the road. The car won't get through it." You say as you look at Glenn. "I can take one of ya." Daryl says as he adjusts his leather vest before slinging on his poncho he'd found a few months ago. "I'll go." Maggie says before you can making you immediately shake your head. "She's my niece. I'm going. End of discussion." You state as you grab your black leather jacket out of Daryl's bikes saddle bag and sling it on. "Just take care of her n Carl till I get back.. please?" You asks Maggie who reluctantly nods at you, walking over to hand you an empty navy blue backpack. "We'll keep an eye on them." Glenn promises making you nod a thanks to him as you sling it on before set down behind Daryl as he kicks his bike to life. You hold onto your lover when he takes off way too fast down the gravel hill, and out of the gate that Oscar had opened for you both. He don't say a word the whole ride and neither do you. His hand however holds your forearm as it's wrapped around his waist, silently making sure you were alright. He knew your head was killing you because instead of looking around like you usually did, it leaned against his shoulder blade. Every once in a while he'd squeeze your arm making your thumb rub his abdomen just so he knew you hadn't fallen asleep with the concussion that still rang in your skull. You only lift your head again when he swerved sharply down a road, and you saw a sign for a day care whizz past. A good catch.
