Cassandra peered down into the hole where Ahsoka worked. "So, what's the verdict?" She sat on the floor with a cup of coffee. "Will we make our great escape?"

Ahsoka peered at her through a pair of goggles. "Hand me the wrench."

Tools were lined up neatly on the floor. There were two wrenches. "Which one?" Cassandra held up both for the Padawan's inspection.

The girl heaved an exasperated sigh. "The smaller one."

Cassandra handed it down. "Hey, don't give me a hard time. Nowhere on my resume does it say 'mechanic.'"

Ahsoka stretched out, reaching above her to tighten a bolt. "You've never fixed anything?"

"Dough that's too dry. I add another egg." Cassandra sipped her coffee and shrugged. "I've never been mechanically inclined. Maybe you should ask Anakin for help."

"I don't need his help. I know what I'm doing." She snapped.

Cassandra held up her hand. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything."

Ahsoka sighed. "It's alright Master Pierce. I'm just used to people doubting me because I'm young."

That was half the equation. Cassandra suspected the real reason Ahsoka always had to prove herself is that she was a girl. Sexism existed everywhere. Even Kamar Taj had a disproportionate number of male sorcerers to female sorcerers. "Well, I think you handle yourself well. You're certainly more mature than I was at fourteen."

"I turned fifteen last week." Ahsoka corrected.

"Huh. You and Anakin were born in the same month. That's interesting." Cassandra drank more of the coffee wishing for tea. "His birthday was a couple days ago." She smiled as a thought occurred to her. "I just realized Anakin shares a birthday with the Flerkittens."

"Don't remind me." The Jedi in question muttered, strolling over to them with Obi-Wan. "How's it going, Snips?" He widened his legs and folded his arms. "Can the ship be fixed?"

Ahsoka sat up, sliding her goggles up her forehead. Grease streaked her face. "I found two cracked silo pins. The radiator's busted and the hyperdrive is damaged. Once I dump the dirt and debris the shuttle should get off the ground. After that, there's no guarantee it'll hold together."

"Sound's terribly downbeat." Obi-Wan remarked. "Well, do what you can. The sooner we leave the better."

Shrugging, Ahsoka donned her goggles and disappeared back down the hole. "You're the boss. Master Pierce, pass me that screwdriver."

The girls seemed to have things well in hand. Cassandra leaned over the hole, handing the Padawan the tool.

Watching, Anakin smiled faintly as a lock of hair tumbled over her right shoulder. She brushed it back absentmindedly, listening to something Ahsoka said. He turned to go.
