The hospital glass doors slid open. A familiar scent of sanitizer and the soft glow of lights filled Y/n's senses. He walked towards the reception desk and greeted the woman standing there. She was wearing blue scrubs and had her short brunette hair tied up in a ponytail. Her distinctly teal eyes had a gentle kindness to them and could recognize an old friend anywhere. They were good acquaintances by now, having seen each other so many times. Y/n always came when she was on shift, and it was always for the same reason. Y/n had always come to see his sick mother, but today felt different. That panicked look on his face was not one she saw very often, and it inspired a sense of dread.
"Hey Y/n, how can I help you today?" She asked, hoping her intuition was wrong.
"Hey Kathy, I wish I could talk right now, but I'm kind of in a rush here. Could you get a meeting with me and my mom in the system? Thanks." Y/n rushed out.
"Of course, I'll do that right away," She looked to her computer and did as Y/n requested, sparing him a couple of worried glances as she inputted the request.
"If you don't mind me asking, did something happen? You look... shaken. That's not like you."
"......" Y/n's eyes drifted away to a potted plant in the corner of the waiting room.
"Sorry for asking... I hope things work out in the end." She consoled. At the same time, the request for a meeting was accepted. Kathy nodded at Y/n to signal that he was good to go and watched as he rushed off into the labyrinth of corridors.
Then the hospital doors slid open once again. A stranger wearing a yellow and green striped shirt walked in. She had a lost expression on her face as if she had never seen a hospital before. Kathy waved her over to the reception desk.
"Hi miss, how can I help you? Do you have someone to see?" She said with a warm smile.
"I... I'm here to see someone named Y/n. Have you seen him anywhere?"
"Y/n? He just came by here. Are you a friend of his?"
"...Yes, could you tell me where he went?" The stranger asked with a hint of anxiousness in her voice.
Kathy squinted her eyes in suspicion. Something about this girl was off, but she couldn't quite place it. She could have sworn that she had never seen this girl once in her life, not when checking in patients in the past decade, not in the bustling yet small streets of Ebbot. What's even more peculiar was her shirt. She could distinctly remember that this specific shirt was one that Y/n used to wear back when he was still a child and when she was just interning for this job.
"Right... well, we here at Ebbot Medical Center have strict safety guidelines and regulations about patient confidentiality. We will have to ask you a couple of questions to make sure you don't have any malicious intent behind your visit." She explained cautiously.
"Oh, okay..."
"First, why are you here today?"
"To see Y/n," the stranger replied quickly.
"Y/n's not a patient of ours, he usually comes to see his sick mother, which I doubt he would want to be disturbed from," Kathy replied steadily, suspicion growing.
"......"
"Hmph, alright. Second, how did you know Y/n came by here? I don't remember him mentioning that he would be having friends over."
"I just followed him here," The stranger spewed out before realizing what she was saying.
"You what? As in, you stalked him without his knowledge?"
