Chapter 50: Aftermath

Bakugo slowly regained consciousness. His head throbbed as he blinked against the blinding light overhead. His body was sore, and the ground beneath him felt rough. Slowly, he pushed himself up, trying to steady his breath. The battle... It felt like it was just moments ago, but everything around him was eerily quiet now.

Bakugo: "Tch... Damn it...!!?"

His vision cleared, and he looked around. Around him, Class 1-A groaned as they picked themselves up, their bodies battered and bruised. Ashido clutched her arm, Kaminari swayed unsteadily, and Todoroki exhaled a shaky breath, steam still rising from his body. Their fight with Izuku had been devastating. They had given it everything—and still lost.

Bakugo wiped the blood from his lip and turned toward the center of the field. Izumi lay there, her breathing shallow, her body even more wrecked than his. Beside her, Inko knelt, hands trembling as she hovered over her daughter, while All Might stood rigid, his eyes dark with relief.

Bakugo: "You still breathing...?"

Izumi managed a weak chuckle, wincing.

Izumi: "Hah... Barely. You look worse, though."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the teasing lilt was still there. Bakugo clicked his tongue, crouching beside her.

Bakugo: "Shut up. You look like hell."

Izumi gave a faint smile.

Bakugo: "We lost," he admitted bitterly. "We all lost."

Izumi's gaze dropped. She clenched her fists, the weight of their failure pressing down on her. Even with everything they had, even together, they couldn't stop him.

Izumi: "It's all my fau—"

Before she could finish, A deafening roar shook the ground.

Bakugo looked up, eyes wide in shock. The night sky was lit by a massive centipede, its body stretching 140 kilometers long. Its armored segments shimmered under the moonlight, coiling like a monstrous serpent in the air.

Then they saw it. A tiny glowing figure, barely visible, rocketing toward space, with the centipede hot on its trail.

Yaoyorozu: "I-Is that...?"

The figure twisted in mid-air and, with one swift motion, karate-chopped the centipede in half.

A shockwave erupted, sending a blast of force that tore through the night sky, splitting the creature's body in two. The halves began to plummet back toward Earth.

The battlefield fell silent. No one could move, staring in disbelief.

Bakugo's breath hitched.

Bakugo: "...The hell...?"

Izumi's eyes widened, her lips parting as she whispered.

Izumi: "Izuku..."

All might: "We have to go now everyone!!" He addressed as the monster's split body began to fall slowly.

Just then Fubuki, along with a group of injured heroes found the students and the others.

Fubuki: "Let's go!!"

Meanwhile

After recovering, Amai Mask found an injured and unconscious Metal Bat near the Centipede's falling body and was carrying him.

Amai Mask: "What's going on here...?!" He muttered as he looked at the Centipede slowly fall. "Was everyone defeated...?! With it so dark out here..." He muttered to himself before he stopped.
