The sixth year Hufflepuff girls were all laughing in the dormitory, dresses hung up and read, floor covered in eyeshadows, hair pieces, jewellery...the works.

But Tara was withdrawn. As the others got ready downstairs she was sat on her bed in deep thought. There was no way.

But yet the longer she thought about it, the more she could believe it if it were to be true. And surprisingly the thought of him feeling for her the way she felt for him didn't scare her. He understood her and what's to be cared for if not to be understood and she understood him just fine too.

In fact the thought sort of calmed her. The only thing missing was confirmation. That wasn't the part that worried her. It was if all of this was in her head and she was leading herself into believing something untrue.

It was the vulnerability that frightened her.

"Tonks, you're awfully quiet up there!" Ciara called, playfully looking up at her from the wardrobes, "You alright?"

Tara got up, her hairbrush still in hand, "Yeah," she smiled, "Just thinking."

"About the French guy that's taken by you?" Joked Juliet, looking up her cheekily.

"Ha. Ha," Tara groaned, making her way down the stairs, "You're terribly funny."

"Who gave you this?" Ciara asked, taking Fred's scarf from Tara's chair, "It's beautiful."

Tara bit back a smile, taking it from her carefully, "Fred," she answered simply.

"Colours are pretty," Juliet observed.

"Sunsets," Tara said, hanging the scarf back on the chair, "Dawns and sunsets."

"You've always had a thing for the sun and the sky." Ciara commented, "I never understood why, how it calms you so much, sure it's gorgeous but..."

"It's a long story."

After two hours the girls were practically ready, makeup finished and fashion show under way. Tara gently braided a section of Ciara's hair, before clipping it with a silver hair clip that the two had bought. The ornament made it look like stars fell from Ciara's hair, magically weaving their way in and out of her fresh light curls.

"Stunning!" Ciara exclaimed, getting up and running over to Juliet, "Belle of the ball."

Tara sat back on her heels and nodded, "Stunning indeed." She turned to Ciara, who was delightfully holding Juliet's hands, "Your turn now Cee."

Ciara giggled before letting go of Juliet and taking her dress robes, "I shall be only a moment."

Linda sighed and sat behind Tara, "So what do you want?"

"Anything," Tara shrugged, "I'm not picky."

"I'm thinking half up, your hair is too long and shiny to hide for the night." Linda told her, running a hand through Tara's hair.

"Whatever you see fit."

By the time Ciara came out, Tara was half done with her hair, according to her friend. Ciara did really look stunning, something straight out of Ancient Greek mythology, a beauty.

"I told you, you'd look great." Tara called her hands together.

"James will die when he sees you," Linda encouraged, as Ciara gave them a twirl, "I'll get mine on once Tara's hair is done," she mumbled, as she concentrated again on the task at hand.

After a while they were all finally ready, Dress robes, hair pieces, all finished. There was a knock at the door.

Juliet frowned and went to open it, "Could it be Sarah?"
