Fred and Tara sat on the steps of the entrance hall, backs to the wall. The hall was pretty quiet, not empty, but not full. Some groups of girls were huddled on the steps, some crying, some just having a good time. Couples were scattered into different corners, making use of the time that they had before a professor found them.

"You'd think they'd be more discreet," Tara commented, "Snape is on duty tonight. He'll be out in roughly five minutes."

Fred chuckled, "Maybe, but the risk is worth a couple of minutes of that," he finished with a grin.

"What?" Tara turned to him and smirked, "Reminiscing on your time as a twenty four seven call boy?" She joked, elbowing him.

"Aren't you just hilarious?" Said Fred, sarcastically before continuing, "and no" he glanced at her, "I'm not."

A wave of anxiety rushed through her, "I don't like where this is going," she frowned, "I'm not letting you do any of that nonsense."

He shook his head, "Don't worry, I'm not going to," he reassured her, "not tonight."

"Good," she breathed out, relieved.

Fred turned to her and smirked, "That worried about the possibility of us kissing?"

"Yeah," Tara joked, "I mean who'd want to kiss you?"

The two smiled to themselves and sat back, letting this whole thing sink in. Fred liked Tara, Tara liked Fred. True neither of them had said it aloud but yet everything in Tara told her that she knew exactly how he felt, and he knew too. There was no doubt about it, she understood him. He understood her, what more could she ask of him?

Maybe to just ask her out soon.

Both of the pairs heads swiftly snapped to themselves direction of the entrance to the great hall, as a monotonous voice announced darkly, "I did not realise this was an all you can eat buffet, with the way some of you are acting with eachother."

Snape stood in the middle of the hall now, Tara and Fred's eyes followed. The couples around them frantically jumped apart, fidgeting.

"Anyone behaving like a hungry dog can get back into the great hall this instant."

There was a moment of reluctant shuffling before Snape went to step forward and suddenly everyone had found the ability to walk at an urgent pace.

Tara and Fred stifled a laugh, covering their mouths and determinedly avoiding the others eyes.

Snape watched as the last couple filed back to the festivities, before quickly turning his attention to his two best performing sixth year potions students.

"Mr. Weasley, Ms. Tonks," he called them by name, making them cough and sit up straight.

"Good evening Professor," Fred greeted the potions master, enthusiastically, once he'd cleared his throat, "Having a good time?"

"None of that nonsense tonight, Weasley," he snapped back, Fred looked back at him, unfazed. Their professor looked between the two of them, stopping on one of them once or twice, looking them up and down. He narrowed his eyes, his gaze becoming more suspicious every moment that passed. "And may I ask what the two of you are doing out here?"

"Just chatting, sir," Fred replied innocently, "It's an event of social means is it not?"

Tara held her tongue, biting back a giggle.

"Unfortunately for you Mr. Weasley, I cannot be sure your intentions are as you claim," he glared at Fred with an expression of utter loathing, "You do have a reputation."
