It was New Year's Eve and Tara was sitting in the library, studying. These days the library was pretty empty, with only students sitting exams present-and the odd ones out such the likes of Hermione Granger and Tara Tonks.
Fred sat beside her. They had yet to properly chat about the new situation between them but they were happy to let it be for a while.
They had just continued as they were.
"So, Tee-," Fred started, leaning forward across the table.
"Don't call me that." Tara mumbled absent mindedly, closing a book.
"So, Tara," Fred restarted cheekily, "There's this open invite New Year's party tonight; and I was wondering if you would go with me?"
"And who's invited to this open invite?" Tara asked, looking up at him for a moment before getting up.
"Sixth and seventh year Gryffindors," he told her, getting up also and following her as she started to walk up the aisles of shelves, "But, anyone can go if invited by a Gryffindor."
"You're not asking Angelina no?" Tara joked, smirking at him.
Fred rolled his eyes, "Please shut up."
After the Yule ball many people had seen Angelina and George in the corridors and since Fred was the one who had asked her to the ball, there was as a small misconception. People had mistaken George for Fred and now there was rumours that Fred and Angelina were involved with each other.
It sort of amused Tara, because Fred was shooting down every person who said it to him without hesitation.
George and Angelina had been meeting a lot since the ball, just like Fred and Tara.
"Aren't you seeing her?" She continued to tease, turning to a shelf and scanning the books.
Fred groaned and wrapped his arms around her, draping himself against her back dramatically, "This whole Angelina and me rumour is killing me," he whined, "You've been on about this for days. Please stop, the rumour-it's so annoying."
Tara glanced over her shoulder at him, "I know it is," she said, sincerely, "So just tell people."
"I've tried!" Fred complained, standing up, "But nobody believes me." Tara shook her head and laughed to herself. Fred took her hand, "You have to trust me here, Tara"
"I do," Tara reassured him, "But I don't know what you want me to do."
"Well, you coming with me to the party tonight would help," Fred argued, throwing a pointed look her way.
"Where is it?" She sighed, giving in.
"Three broom sticks," Fred answered, perking up suddenly, "The plan is for everyone to go down last minute to Hogsmede, avoid all the teachers, which should be easy because they'll be heading up, then stay down at the three broom sticks until morning."
"And how do you expect to get back into the grounds?" Tara questioned, doubting the solidity of this plan very much.
"Bagman," Fred answered simply.
"Ludo Bagman?" Tara looked at Fred like he had lost his mind.
"He's on board, said he wouldn't snitch," Fred explained, "He's all in, he's staying above the three broom sticks and his wand has access to unlocking the gates of the castle."
Tara thought about it. This plan was the most ambitious poorly thought out plan she had ever heard. But then again, it'd be fun.
"If I get caught I'll murder you," she hissed warningly, pointing a finger at him, "My record is clean, I've avoiding getting caught with you three for years..." she trailed off before mumbling, "Well apart from that one time."
