Tara walked out of the office feeling very accomplished, first she'd managed to get information for Cedric as well as did well in her DADA class that day and now she was about to spend time alone with her best friend. Life was great.
"Good evening, Tee." A cheery voice greeted as she shut the office door.
Tara jumped before rounding on the red headed bastard, "I swear on Godricks left big toe I will hex the living day lights out of you if you call me that name one more time..." she trailed off as she began to grin at Fred, who was leaning arrogantly against the wall, "Stand up straight you look like a criminal." She disapproved before walking off.
"Who says I'm not?" Fred joked, jumping up straight and following Tara as she walked down the corridor.
"At this point I wouldn't be surprised." She retaliated.
"So tell me, why were you ditching History of magic again?" He asked, eagerly awaiting the reasoning for his most punctual friend had for missing classes.
"You'll find out tomorrow." Tara smirked, looking over her shoulder at him.
"How can I be sure?" Fred enquired, finally falling into step with her.
"Because I'll tell you." She said simply. The two walked before Tara spoke, "So, since I'm not studying today I think I should eat dinner on a Monday for once."
"I'll race you?" Fred challenged, stopping and raising a mischievous brow.
She stopped as well, coming back to him, "You're on."
They looked at each other daringly before Fred counted down, "five...four..." he began slowly, Tara caught his eye as he gave her a mischievous look, "threetwoone!" He exclaimed quickly before racing off.
"Weasley, when I catch you." Tara laughed, running after him.
The two dodged students passing by as they raced each other to the great hall, Fred laughing over his shoulder at her as he sped ahead. But it became evidently clearer that Tara was actually catching up to him, his face dropped as he stopped laughing and picked up the pace-or tried to at least.
Tara apologised quickly as she almost rammed into a third year Hufflepuff who was watching the duo thoroughly entrained.
Tara grabbed Fred shoulder as they raced down the stairs and just before they skidded to a stop outside the great hall. When they had stopped they realised they had firmly tied.
"You cheated!" Tara exclaimed, breathlessly.
"And I won." Fred said in complete denial leaning over to catch his breath.
"Did not!" She argued, "We tied."
"Mr. Weasley and Miss Tonks." A stern voice called down the stairs. The two froze and looked at the staircase. Professor McGonagall was striding toward them, firmly.
They glanced at each other and bit back a smile, as they bowed their heads, awaiting their giving out to.
"Running in the corridors can lead to serious injuries, of yourself and others." Their vice headmistress told the two, as she reached them, "Mr. Weasley, this is your last warning after all the funny business you have been pulling these last few weeks... and Ms. Tonks, I expected better from you." She shook her head disappointed before turning on her heel, "Five points from both of your houses."
"Sorry Professor." Fred called after her, "But for the record who won that race?" He asked, making Tara turn to him and hit his arm sharply.
