Chapter Forty-Four
As the night settled over the city, the base grew quiet, the echoes of strategy meetings and the tension of the upcoming match fading into the background. The others had long since retreated to their own rooms, but Sicheng had been waiting. His patience was something deadly, something controlled, something that built and burned until it snapped.
And the moment Yao stepped into their room, closing the door behind her, it snapped completely. Before she could turn, before she could even process the shift in the air, he was on her, fast, deliberate, inescapable. The sound of the lock clicking was drowned out by the way her back hit the wall, her breath catching as his hands found her wrists, pinning them firmly above her head.
His body pressed against hers, hard, unyielding, the heat of him sinking through the thin barrier of her clothes. His whiskey-amber eyes burned as they raked over her, dark with something raw, something entirely consuming. "You enjoyed that, didn't you?" His voice was low, dangerous, the kind of smooth, lethal edge that curled deep inside her, igniting something just as intense.
"What are you talking about, Cheng?" Yao's breath hitched, but she tilted her chin up slightly, meeting his gaze head-on, refusing to back down even as her pulse betrayed her completely.
His lips curled in something darkly pleased, something predatory, something that sent a slow, delicious shiver through her entire body. "You know exactly what I'm talking about, Kitten." he murmured, his breath brushing against the sensitive skin of her neck as he leaned in, his nose just barely grazing along her jaw. "You set me up," he continued, voice dipping lower, silk and sin wrapped in steel. "You made sure I wouldn't fight back, you played every move perfectly, and then you stood there and enjoyed watching me suffer while you trapped me in front of everyone."
Yao's lips parted, her breath coming just a little faster as the weight of his presence pressed deeper, as the heat between them curled tighter, as his fingers tightened slightly around her wrists, not enough to hurt, but enough to remind her that she wasn't going anywhere.
"Didn't you, Kitten?"
She let out a slow exhale, refusing to give him the satisfaction of answering.
His lips ghosted over her pulse, not quite touching, just barely there, enough to drive her insane. "You enjoyed every second of it. Didn't you?" he whispered, all dark amusement and low, velvet promise.
She swallowed hard, her heartbeat pounding against his lips where they hovered, so close, too close, not close enough. "I did." she admitted, her voice just as smooth, just as challenging.
Sicheng smirked against her skin, something low and utterly pleased vibrating through his chest.
"Then it's only fair that I enjoy making you pay for it." he murmured, brushing his lips just barely against the column of her throat.
Yao barely had a moment to process before his mouth was on hers, deep, consuming, possessive, claiming her in a way that made it impossible to breathe, impossible to think, impossible to do anything except feel.
