. . .
''I think I remember...''
Hare scratched her head, looking puzzled as she stared down at the notes she had written some time before. She was sitting on her bed, blankets pulled over her little legs, leaning back on her pillow.
She wore a small white tank top which went along with her hair. There were noticeable bags under her eyes, contradictful to her supposed 'rest'.
Her red eyes shone brightly and illuminated the papers she was holding. Though, it did not help her in anything she had plans for other than seeing.
''How many Bursts?... I think I missed the last one...'' She mumbled, sighing. ''Crap, this could've been done sooner. What was I even thinking? Letting Lilith take the final burst like that...''
''Four... Maybe? Four Bursts? Would that be enough?'' Irked, she put the notes down and groaned. ''Why's this gotta be so damn complicated!?''
The pressure was getting to her head. She had the feeling that there were expectations she needed to exceed, yet, was unable to even achieve in the first place. So much for placing them on a 'little' girl like her.
It even added more fuel to the flame that she couldn't do this now and had to wait for the right opportunity. It was just... Annoying... Having to keep herself at bay for anything...
But there was also another thing that really got her riled up.
She felt her presence.
The presence of 'Mother'.
That night, after that 'bum-ass dark-haired bitch' betrayed her father and his friends, she couldn't see anything after he passed out.
But she could sense. She could feel. She could hear.
Her gentle strokes and her words of praise. The first time she had heard of her in a century, yet she couldn't even be there to hug and cuddle with her.
No. She just had to be stuck here. Inside this... Body... Vessel, or whatever she called it...
Her mother always told her good things come when you wait, but has she not waited enough? Is 100 years not insufficient to the point you need even more?
Even worse she's stuck here with that woman...
''Hare? Was that you, Dear?'' Lilith's voice frightened her. She hastily hid her notes under her pillow and lied back down, closing her eyes shortly after.
Speak of the devil.
Lilith quietly opened the door and peered in through the doorway, her bright ocean blue eyes lighting up the room to the point she could see, so similarly to Hare.
''Hmm... I thought I had heard something...'' She sighed, shaking her head. She then entered and closed the door behind herself.
Lilith walked up to Hare's bed, gently leaning down on the frame and staring down at the small child. She was snoring quietly, her cheek pressing up against the pillow and smushing against it.
