Y/n's shoes clicked on the ground as he walked forward, as if marching in heels. The place he was in was dark, with lights flickering on & off, and cobwebs taking up corners of the facility.

The Deep Sector, as the automated voice called it. The place really does live up to its name, it took him close to half an hour to arrive from the previous floor. And considering the Ark is already deep below the Earth's crust, this place must be at rock bottom.

It was quiet, it was eerie, and every sound he made echoed through the halls. It gave him the sense that he shouldn't be there, his gut was screaming at him to take off running before he got scolded by somebody.

Yet, his intuition pushed him forward... For whatever reason that might be. Maxwell being here should be out of the equation by now, so why is he even bothering...?

... What if this place is just an abandoned storage unit for M.M.R. and he is just there wandering? That'd certainly explain the quality of this whole thing.

But if it were abandoned, the lights would be off. They're flickering, sure, but they're still on... Creepy, huh?

Squeak squeak!

Y/n was startled and immediately halted any movement. He ran his gaze from one turn to the other, trying to identify the sound.

... Just for a small, tiny rat to poke its head below a medical stretcher.

''Oh...'' He grinned, laughing to himself as he loosened up. ''It's just a little mouse- or rat. I uhh, forgot the difference.''

''Squeak squeak!'' The tiny cretin ran out of its hiding spot and out of his vision, deeper into the labs.

The sole fact that Y/n had been mortified by the whimpers of such a small and fragile animal goes to show the amount of unease he feels. If it had been something louder, Lord knows the amount of noise he'd make.

He looked around and spotted a creaked open door to both his right and left. Curiosity piqued in and he decided that, since they were already open, they weren't all that important.

He first went to his right and entered the room, using his phone to light up his way. The light shone at every furniture and aspect of it, leaving barely anything in the dark, except the things caught within shadows.

It seemed to be a sort of office. There wasn't much to it than a terribly-damaged chair and a couple documents left on the desk.

Once again, with his curiosity left unsatisfied, and intuition unfulfilled, he decided to delve into the papers.

''Let's see here.'' He wipes the dust away and begins to read. ''Research report: Full Burst Phenom; The truth behind Burst Cycles and how it affects the average Nikke unit?''
