"..."
Abel walked through the dark corridors of the research facility, bereft of any light. Whether natural or artificial, it did not matter. It was dark enough to not be able to see anything in front of you.
However, that was the point for anyone else besides him. Heaven had honed her senses for a long, long time. To the point she could see everything before her clearly without any problem.
The boy had been ordered to stand on guard if there were to come anyone from behind that would be able hinder their operation further. While Anis and Rapi headed off to assist Y/n and Neon in the ambush taking place on the floor above, he was left wandering around in search of anyone else.
... But, instead of doing what he was supposed to, he was looking for...
Creeeeak...
Abel opened a door, leading to a small storage room filled with a variety of old items. He took a quick whiff of the scent within and acknowledged it. "Smells plausible."
He shut the door behind himself and started rummaging around, looking for any instance of Vapaus he could find. It would be for the best if he held it away from both Counters and any other group due to the circumstances it could bring.
However, he managed to not turn up anything in the end. He released an annoyed sigh, shaking his head at the situation. "Fuck, man. This is really starting to piss me off."
"I heard Y/n shout that he found a single bullet, but is that it? You can't tell me that's everything, there's gotta be more somewhere around here. I just gotta search in the right places."
He went out of the room he had searched and shut the door closed behind him, giving up on walking through a stenched dark hallway and instead choosing to look somewhere less obvious. Thinking outside the box, if you will.
"Caww!"
"...?" Abel raised an eyebrow at the sudden disturbance, looking over at a nearby window to check it out. "What's that... a crow?"
Surely enough, on the old, worn-down windowsill, there was a peculiar bird that had taken a stand just a bit off from the edge. While for others this wouldn't make up for any reason to get worried, for Heaven, it did.
Abel sighed as he approached said window, and in turn, the crow. "Of course it's those people. Eden just can't keep their grubby little hands off anything I'm part of."
"I wouldn't be surprised if they're the ones ambushing the others up there."
He reached out and pet the crow lightly on its head with his finger. The animal didn't mind at all, but it didn't show any sign of affection afterwards. Either way, Abel kept petting it gently for his own amusement.
Heaven was quite fond of animal life, after all.
"Anyhow," The boy spoke, pulling his hand away and resting it at his side. "I doubt they'll be much trouble. Y/n's probably strong enough to deal with them, let alone with those two assisting him."
"I'll just cut the bullshit and get on with it, yeah?"
Abel threw a look over his shoulder and, sure enough, there was a figure standing right behind him. A tall woman with smooth white skin, dark wavy hair, and foggy blue eyes. Clad from top to bottom in armor, with a few features sticking out in a rather lewd fashion.
