Track
My head made me remember every smile, every laugh, and pick up of my dad. Tears were soon running down my face and the bell rung and everyone walked inside. I got up went to the track and just started running the endless circles.
Reality left me in place of memories and my feet hitting the ground. I ran until my stomach growled in hunger and my legs burn. I stopped for a minute before I heard Dustin's voice behind me.
"Hey." I felt Dustin's arms wrap around my waist. I turned and he was in his football gear and the other players were walking onto the field. I looked at him with puffy red eyes, he hugged me close to his body.
"Hey, I'm sorry-" I whispered as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Shh. You have nothing to be sorry for." He whispered into my ear. We stayed like that for a while, silently in each other's arms.
"Hey Kylie." James said from behind me and I turned my head. "I'm sorry about your parents."
"Yeah you and everyone else." I said. "Last week I was in Seattle with my parents. Now everyday I hear 'I'm sorry about your parents'. I hear from people who don't really care they just act like it. I'm sorry I'm being a total bitch but it hasn't been long enough for me to even come close to coming to terms with all this." I was told by everyone to just live my life without them. But everything I did I did it to see their smile and now I'll never see it. I looked down at my feet.
"Wait this happened last week?" Dustin asked completely surprised.
"Yeah everyone wanted us to get to reality ASAP so we moved here with in a day and the next day all our stuff showed up in the truck, we got registered into the school really quick, they had everything done last weekend." I said still looking at my feet.
"Jakes! Johnson! We have a game today! Get to practicing!" Their coach screamed and Dustin let go of me and James and him started passing the ball. I went back to running.
The cheerleading team were having practice and so was the track team.
"Hey! Kylie can I talk to you for a second?" Bella asked walking into my running path and I stopped a few feet in front of her.
"Sure. What's up?" I asked looking at her, her hair was in a bun and she was in her cheerleading outfit.
"I don't think you should date Dustin." She looked me up and down as she said it, the wasn't an ounce of sarcasm or bitchiness in her tone, just pure seriousness.
"Oh? And why is that?" I asked.
"You may think he's a nice guy, but he's a monster. There's no hope of him being something other than a monster. So take my warning seriously, get away now before he rips your heart out." She didn't seem like she was joking around, she literally believed Dustin was a monster.
