Chapter 100: Leveling Up with Chances of Death

***Amaya's POV***

"That thing that we just did." Lu spoke to himself. "It was exactly the same as what Rayleigh did back then!"

That's right Lu. I smile. Remember the goal you're striving for. Remember that feeling. I know you and Ace can master this version of haki.

"Even after two years, I never even came close to doing it." Lu continued as Ace's face hardened in realization.

"But I just did it." Lu declared. "But, I was so desperate. I don't remember how I did it!" Lu realized as Big Mom approached.

"Well, Luffy. Things are about to get desperate." Ace's rough tone voiced.

The lumbering steps that were coming behind me suddenly stopped as the giant lady reached us. I could only determine what was happening based on the sound since I was facing the opposite direction.

It's best this way. I won't feel the need to dodge if I don't see it coming. This way my life is truly in the hands of Ace and Lu.

"Chi cHi chii!?" She questioned my resolve one last time, sitting on the ground in front of me.

"Dead serious, Chi." I responded. "Are you with me, my little co-pilot?"

Her tail bushed up in irritation before simmering back down. She then jumped harshly into my arms, making me hold her in a hug.

"Chi." She squeaked matching resolve.

I hugged her in response. All that's left to do is wait.

"You can't get away now!" The shrill voice of Big Mom declared.

"Come on!" Lu's and Ace's teacher spoke. "Let's see what you got!"

I glanced to my side to see the short man with his arms crossed. He was also facing away from the impending situation, but his stature was that of determination.

"You might die, ya know!" Lu responded to the old man.

"I don't mind!" I could hear the grin in the old man's voice.

Despite not seeing the commotion, my curiosity got the best of me, making me activate my rumble hearing.

The tightening of tendons and muscles, along with the swoosh of air from I'm assuming Big Mom was the most prominent noise. However, I didn't hear the same response for either of the boys.

Instead, I could hear Ace controlling his breathing until Lu started to mumble to himself.

"Instead of straining myself," he spoke. "I should allow Haki to flow to my fists. Bring it!" He declared at the end.

SMACK WHOOSSH BAM

I heard the noises of impact. I felt the swoosh of the wind, but I wasn't moving. I was okay. Phew! Dodged that bullet or fist.

I looked behind me to see that Ace had successfully stopped one of Big Mom's fists. His arms were deepened with the hue of specific haki as he continued to push back against the force that was Big Mom.

He grunted before turning his neck to look at me. "Will this suffice as I've completed my training, Ama?" Ace questioned with a crazy grin.

I smiled at his thought, shaking my head. "I guess so, but where's Lu and the old man?" I started to glance around as Chi started to loosen up in my arms.

She had been quite tense up til now. Chi sighed in relief from the ordeal until we located two pairs of legs deeply embedded into the stone wall structure.
