Fantasia POV

I didn't tell her I was coming.

I just... booked the flight. Called the retreat. Got permission from the facilitators and packed every piece of myself into a suitcase I barely zipped. I didn't even tell Dani. I just knew. I needed to see her. To breathe the same air. To close the distance that suddenly felt too cruel to keep honoring.

The moment I stepped off the plane and into Bali's heat, something shifted in me. The weight of everything I'd been carrying—Sir's outburst, the headlines, the therapy, the quiet nights—began to lift with every step closer to her.

A driver picked me up, and as we wound through rice fields and stone-lined roads, I pressed my forehead to the window and imagined her—barefoot, radiant, sitting cross-legged on some temple floor with incense burning and wind in her curls. I'd seen her like that in dreams. Now I was about to live it.

When we pulled up to the retreat, my nerves kicked in. I wasn't even sure if she'd want to see me without warning. But I couldn't help it. My soul didn't ask for permission—it just moved.

A soft-spoken woman in linen pants led me through a lush garden path, her voice low as she whispered, "She's by the banyan tree. She goes there every morning."

My heart knocked against my ribs.

I walked slowly, careful not to disturb the quiet. And then I saw her.

Taraji. Her back was to me, wrapped in a thin white shawl, hair up in a loose bun, head bowed in stillness. She looked like a painting. Like a prayer someone had whispered into the earth and got answered.

And somehow, she felt me.

She turned before I said a word. Her eyes widened, mouth parting in disbelief.

"Fantasia?" she breathed.

I stepped forward, my voice trembling. "Hey, baby."

She stood so slowly, like she didn't trust her legs. And then she ran.

I caught her mid-step, arms flung around my neck as she buried her face into my shoulder. Her body shook in my arms, and mine matched her heartbeat for heartbeat.

"You're here," she whispered against my skin. "How are you here?"

I pulled back just enough to see her eyes. "Because I needed you. And you needed me."

Tears gathered in her lashes. "You crossed the world for me."

"I'd do it again."

She held my face like she was trying to make sure I was real. And then she kissed me—soft, lingering, reverent.

We sat beneath the banyan tree, wrapped in each other, as the world softened around us. She reached into a small bag beside her and pulled out a folded piece of parchment.

"I wrote you something," she said. "I didn't know if I'd send it, but now that you're here..."

She cleared her throat, hands trembling just a bit.

"I want to read it to you."

I nodded, swallowing back tears.

"Dear Fantasia..."

Her words poured out like water, warm and steady. She spoke of silence, of longing, of learning to sit with her own pain. Of writing my name in the dirt and seeing it as sacred. Of being afraid she couldn't live up to the way loved her—but wanting to try anyway.

Her voice cracked when she read, "You waited beside me."

I reached out, placing my hand on her knee. She gripped it tight.
