"So, tell me what happened last night," Ryo softly spoke as the two had coffee to ease up. "After Ellen tried to bait me into her trap, I made a counterattack by intentionally falling for the bait," Y/n narrated his story and took a deep breath as he tried to remember fully what happened. "What I thought was just a simple beatdown turned into something else. All I wanted was to cripple DEM's firepower as warning, but all of it turned into mess. Origami saw the files, about the truth of my parents deaths and then she..." Y/n could feel himself choking on his own words remembering the sight of how the dead bodies looked like.
"T-the bodies... Dear god... They were all tortured, used as an outlet for Origami's anger. It's as if the truth made her go on a torturous killing spree," Y/n whimpered in terror, still not being able to believe that Origami had caused all of this by herself without any whatsoever influence from Kurumi. "I know some of them were horrible people, but to be subjected to that kind of torture...it's inhuman," he described the scene in small words.
Ryo wanted to say that they deserved it, knowing that some of them were far beyond human in terms of their actions. However, the lingering thought that anything he might say can ruin the remaining compassion Y/n struggles to maintain in place. After all, his mind was still young and broken, and he wanted to keep the pieces kept in place altogether despite shattered the pieces are.
Ryo has to pick his words carefully, else Y/n might fall into a path that he himself fears to take. "Y/n... There are some choices that we ourselves have to make. We wield powers that can either save or destroy the lives of people. It is up to us if the path we take leads to either salvation or destruction.
Although you may not need to decide if you wish to spare or kill someone right now... There will be a time that you will someday," Ray warned Y/n but he instantly replied that it's a little too late for that. Looking down, Y/n then confessed something to Ryo as if the boy was at a confessing his sins to a priest. "Although I never pulled the trigger....
I killed someone... Reine told me that was Lieutenant Paddington, and I sentenced him to death after knowing he orchestrated the death of my parents..." Y/n admitted the fact that he decided to end one's life. "I... What... Why did you..." Ray was in shock, not believing what his nephew had done. He was afraid... afraid that Y/n was going down the path he did.
"Although it feels shitty of me to justify it. That was probably out of mercy, rather than malice. I already found him beyond repair as he tried to kill me... He's a piece of shit, but it's either he is subjected to torture or put out of misery with how fucked up his body was at that point," Y/n narrated and Ryo seemed to look at Y/n in pity.
What the young mind thought was a simple beat-up operation became a living nightmare for him and a reminder of what being involved in the bigger picture feels like. "There's no turning back at this point. The moment you wielded a Spirit's powers is when your life changed, whether for better or for worse. What we can do now is to move forward and do the right thing to protect those we love," Ryo told Y/n that the sole responsibility of what the young boy will do now relies on him only.
"I guess so... i think... I need a breather, that whole thing was a mess for me," Y/n ended the conversation with a whimper as his phone rang. "Hey, can I borrow your phone for a bit?" Ryo asked and Y/n tilted his head as to why. "I need to make sure who is contacting us," his uncle answered with wariness in his voice.
