Prompt: doesn't matter what
The clouds have just gone away after pouring down on Tokyo. The ground was still wet and some parts were flooded, but that didn't stop the blue haired shadow from going to Maji Burger and buying himself his mandatory vanilla milkshake. As he walked in, a familiar face rushed out and he was only able to catch a glimpse, but she disappeared the moment he turned around. How strange, he thought. The teen carried his umbrella with him, just in case it rained again.
After ordering his shark and drinking it quietly in a corner, he got up and left the restaurant. It was a Sunday, and he was unsure of where to go. There was no basketball practice today, and all his homework has been completed. Over the horizon, his blue eyes could see more gloomy clouds rolling in. Maybe it was best to return home.
As he walked home, the gray clouds rolled in quicker than he expected. Before he knew it, there were thousands of little raindrops plopping everywhere, all over the ground, wetting everything again. He opened his navy blue umbrella and moved it over his head. The umbrella grew heavy due to the amount of rainwater falling on it. He walked quicker on the sidewalk, eager to get home, when he noticed a figure standing in the middle of the sidewalk parallel to him. It was standing there, letting the rain shower it down. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the figure was actually the familiar face he saw earlier as he entered Maji Burger.
"Coach." He called out to her.
She looked at him, then suddenly turned around so her back faced him and began to walk the opposite way. He crossed the street and made the attempt to catch up to her.
She walked with her head hanging down, the rainwater seeping through her clothes and drizzling her hair. She didn't care about her clothes. She just wanted to be alone.
Suddenly, the rain began to fall around her. She looked up and saw a navy blue umbrella being held over her. She looked down at the umbrella owner and gasped. Where did he come from?
"K-Kuroko! You scared me." She breathed, wiping her face with her wet sleeves.
"Coach, are you okay?" He asked with his orthodox look.
"I'm fine. What are you doing out here?"
"I should be asking you that, Coach."
She sighed. She knew there was no way she was going to win this one sided battle. It struck her as strange to how she can win an argument with everyone, but for some reason, she couldn't win one against Kuroko.
"I just. . .got in an argument with my dad that's all." She said, looking away at the ground. The two were standing in the middle of the sidewalk, and no one seemed to be visible.
"Are you sure that's all?" He asked. He's very observant, he would know when someone is telling the whole truth.
"He called me when I was at Maji Burger and started yelling about things and I wasn't in the mood to argue . . .and-and-" she began to choke and wiped her eyes more frequently. Kuroko stood there as he watched her begin to cry. Her tears soon mixed with the raindrops, but it didn't matter to her, because they both tasted just as salty.
Wiping her face did her no good because her sleeve was so wet. She stepped to a side, covered her face, and sobbed quietly. She didn't want her own basketball player to see her cry. She felt cold inside, her own personal iceberg taking shape of her heart. She didn't really pay attention to what her dad was yelling about, she just felt horrible, hung up the call, and ran out of the restaurant.
There was a warm arm suddenly embracing her. She was startled, looking up to see her shadow player hugging her. There wasn't necessarily a correct response to this form on reaction to a person crying, but she didn't think about it. She just hugged him back tighter and cried into his shirt. He patted her back softly, telling her it'll be okay.
After several tearful minutes, they let go and she wiped her eyes again.
"Kuroko, please don't tell anyone about this." She said, trying to dry her tears.
"I promise." He smiled. There was some kind of power behind his smile, because before she knew it, she was smiling herself. There was a sudden ray of sunshine cast upon them. The two heads looked up to see the clouds were slowly drifting away. Kuroko put the umbrella away and took a hold of Riko's hand.
"Would you like a vanilla milkshake?" He asked with his smile still intact.
Her eyes widened. Her heart jumped and her iceberg melted away. She couldn't help but smile brightly.
"I would love one."
