AUTHOR POV
As she was taking slow, curious steps toward the mysterious door at the end of the hallway, Sanjana suddenly heard her name being called from behind.
“Sanjana.”
She turned, startled for a moment, then softened when she saw Veer standing there. His eyes, though calm, held something unreadable.
She walked up to him, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Are you not tired yet?” Veer asked, a slight smile playing on his lips.
“I wanted to explore the mansion,” she said, glancing briefly back at the hallway. “So Elena guided me.”
Veer shifted his gaze to Elena, who stood silently behind her. He gave her a short nod.
“Hungry?” he asked, looking back at Sanjana.
She smiled and nodded. “A little.”
“Go and see if the food is ready,” Veer told Elena.
The young maid bowed respectfully and quietly walked off toward the kitchen.
Veer turned to Sanjana again, placing a gentle hand on her back. “Get freshened up, okay? I’ll join you for dinner.”
Sanjana agreed with a soft “Okay,” and headed back toward their room. But as she walked away, she couldn’t shake the strange feeling from earlier—the pull toward that locked door… and the way Veer’s tone had subtly shifted when she mentioned exploring.
Back in their suite, Sanjana opened the walk-in closet, selecting a fresh outfit from the elegantly arranged racks. Everything here was tailored to perfection—her favorite brands, colors, even perfumes she hadn’t used in years. Veer had thought of everything. Yet somehow, it all felt too perfect.
As she stood under the warm stream of the shower, her thoughts wandered. What’s behind that door? Why is it locked? Why did Elena hesitate?
And more importantly—what is Veer hiding?

The soft clink of cutlery echoed through the lavish dining hall as the evening lights bathed the room in a golden glow. The long marble table was set with crystal glasses, silverware polished to a mirror finish, and candles that flickered gently. A light breeze drifted in through the open terrace doors, carrying with it the scent of night jasmine from the gardens.
