After the dinner with everyone, Veer retreated to his study room, his mind abuzz with thoughts of Sanjana. Throughout the meal, he couldn't help but steal glances at her, yearning to apologize for his hurtful words and actions. But how could he make amends when he had already caused such pain? Veer sank into his chair, his head in his hands.
Sanjana and Anita, sat engrossed in conversation at the dining table. Suddenly, Sanjana's brow furrowed as she remembered leaving her beloved book in Veer's study room.
Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of Veer discovering that she was reading that book again. With a newfound sense of urgency, Sanjana excused herself from the table and hurried towards Veer's study.
The air grew hushed as she tiptoed through the hallways, her mind racing with possibilities.
Would Veer be in his study?
Would he have already found her book?
A thousand questions swirled in her mind, each one more worrisome than the last. Upon reaching the study door, Sanjana hesitated momentarily. The heavy oak door, adorned with intricate carvings, seemed to guard the secrets held within.
With a deep breath, she turned the handle and pushed the door open, revealing a room bathed in warm, golden light. Veer was not in sight, much to Sanjana's relief.
As she frantically checked every nook and cranny, her eyes happened to fall upon an ominous shadow cast from the direction of the balcony. Curiosity piqued, Sanjana cautiously approached the balcony, her heart pounding in her chest.
As she peered out, she noticed something that made her blood run cold: Veer was sitting there, engrossed in the very book she had been searching for.
She froze, rooted to the spot, unable to fathom how he had gotten her book. Veer, completely oblivious to his wife's presence, was deeply immersed in the book. He flipped through the pages with ease, his lips moving silently as he followed the story. Sanjana couldn't help but feel a mix of fear and confusion washed over her.
Just as she was about to leave, he stopped her, his eyes filled with a mix of pain and longing. Without a word, he handed her the book she had left behind. Sanjana's heart fluttered with hope. She turned to face him, her eyes pleading for forgiveness.
"Here..." Veer whispered, his voice barely a murmur.
"Did you forgive me?" Sanjana asked, her voice trembling. Veer's eyes softened slightly, but his words were still laced with caution. "Hmmm... But don't call me or message me if it's not important."
