"Veer ji..."
He turned, his gaze still guarded.
"I am not talking about this... I am talking about the mistake I did."
Veer's eyes sharpened, a flicker of pain crossing his features.
"Not even in my life."
Sanjana's heart sank, but she knew she...

AUTHOR POV
After two days, the morning arrived with a certain thrill in the air. Today, Chavi and Nishant were to land in Italy.
Sanjana stood before the mirror, carefully adjusting her dupatta and fixing her hair. She could barely contain her smile, her heart racing with excitement. Every few minutes, she glanced at the clock, as though time was teasing her.
Behind her, Veer was buttoning his crisp black shirt. Watching her almost jump in anticipation, he couldn’t help the faint smile tugging at his lips. “Excited?” he asked, his voice calm but touched with warmth.
“Too much,” Sanjana replied instantly, almost bouncing on her feet. Her eyes sparkled as though she was a little girl waiting to open a long-awaited gift.
Veer chuckled softly at her innocence. He rarely allowed himself to smile, but today he couldn’t stop. This was the first time he had seen her this happy since they came to Italy, and it stirred something warm inside him. Somewhere deep down, he was grateful to Chavi for giving Sanjana this joy.
Soon, they were both ready. Together, they walked down the grand staircase, their footsteps echoing lightly in the mansion. As they entered the parking lot, Veer stepped ahead and opened the car door for Sanjana. She smiled up at him before sliding inside gracefully.
Veer rounded the car and settled into the driver’s seat. The engine roared to life, and with a smooth motion, they pulled out of the mansion gates.
The roads of Italy stretched before them, lined with towering buildings and the hum of the city waking up. Sanjana’s eyes were glued to the view, her mind already painting the moment when she would finally embrace her friend.
Veer, on the other hand, drove with his usual calmness, his eyes sharp on the road. Outwardly, he looked composed. But inside, there was a subtle tension — not from Chavi and Nishant’s arrival, but from the shadows he knew were always watching. Still, he kept that to himself, letting Sanjana’s excitement fill the car like sunlight.
The moment they stepped inside the airport, Sanjana sped up her pace, her eyes scanning every corner of the arrival gate. Veer walked beside her, keeping his hands in his pockets, quietly observing her excitement with a soft, almost invisible smile.
The display board blinked:
Flight from Mumbai — ARRIVED.
Sanjana’s heart jumped.
And then she saw them.
Chavi came out first, dragging her suitcase with both hands, looking around with wide eyes. Nishant followed behind her, scanning the area calmly — until he spotted Veer.
