*The moment you arrived, my heart finally knew where it belonged.*

AUTHOR POV
The soft golden light of dawn spilled through the large windows, casting long shadows on the polished wooden floors. Birds chirped somewhere in the distance, the only sound in the quiet mansion.
Sanjana stirred slightly, the warmth of the early sun brushing her face. Her eyes fluttered open. For a moment, she didn’t move — just stared at the high ceiling, replaying the night before in her mind. Her heartbeat was calm, but her thoughts… weren’t.
She turned her head slowly.
Veer was still beside her, lying on his side, one arm resting under the pillow. His breathing was steady. Peaceful.
She watched him in silence — the man who had always seemed too distant, too powerful to touch. And yet… last night, something had changed. Not just between them, but within her. She didn’t regret the kiss. Not even for a second. But now, everything was different.
She sat up gently, trying not to wake him. Her bare feet touched the cool floor as she walked toward the window, wrapping the light shawl from the chair around her.
Behind her, Veer stirred.
He didn’t open his eyes immediately — he didn’t have to. He knew she was standing there.
“You’re up early,” he said, voice low and husky from sleep.
Sanjana turned slightly, a small smile pulling at her lips. “Couldn’t sleep.”
He sat up, running a hand through his still-damp hair, the bruises on his shoulder now softer in color. “Because of last night?”
She didn’t answer at first.
Then she said quietly, “Because I don’t know what it means.”
Veer looked at her — really looked at her — for a long moment.
“It doesn’t have to mean anything… right now,” he said. “But it wasn’t nothing.”
Their eyes met across the room. Neither of them moved, but something unspoken passed between them — a fragile thread pulling them closer without touching.
Just then, a knock came at the door.
It was Elena.
“Sir… ma’am,” she said from outside, “Mr. Aarav is waiting downstairs.”
Veer’s jaw tensed slightly. Duty calling — as always.
He stood, walking over to where Sanjana still stood near the window. For a moment, it felt like he was about to say something more — something real.
