Kabanata 26

"Hi," he said, voice husky from just waking up.

I couldn't help the smile that tugged at my lips.

"Hi," I whispered back.

His fingers reached out and lightly traced the shape of my hand resting on the sheets.

"Dito ka lang," he whispered.

"Cronus, may work ka pa 'diba?" nag-aalalang tanong ko.

I heard him sighed.

"I'm not going in today. I'll stay with you. Hmm." he sniffed my head.

I let out a small laugh.

"You're skipping work... for me?" I asked.

"For us," he corrected gently, brushing a hand up and down my back. "One day won't hurt. I don't want this morning to end yet."

I closed my eyes. How was it possible to feel this safe? This seen?

"You always smell like sunshine," he mumbled, still half-asleep.

I laughed again. "Sunshine doesn't have a smell."

"It does when it's you."

My heart stumbled in the best way. I looked up at him, our faces only inches apart.

"Alam mo?

He chuckled and kissed my head. "What do you want to do today? You decide."

Tiningala ko muli siya. "Really? Ako magdedecide?"

He nodded. Ngumuso ako at nagpanggap na nag-iisip. Ano nga bang magandang gawin ngayon?

"Uhm... grocery shopping?"

Tumawa muli siya. "Really? Marami pa tayong stock."

"Please?

"Alright. Whatever you want." he smiled. "Though... it's funny."

"Anong nakakatawa?" tanong ko, kunot-noo.

"I've never actually been grocery shopping," he said, grinning.

"Never? As in never?"

He nodded, amused by my reaction. "Yeah. I don't do grocery shopping."

"Then what do you shop for?" I asked.

He stretched, eyes half-closed. "Private jets."

"You're joking."

"I'm not." he smirked. "I only shop when it's something... worth the trip."

I threw a pillow at him. "Wow, Cronus. Grocery shopping is humbling, okay? Essential!"

"And private jets aren't?"

I rolled my eyes. "Come on, jet-setter. We're getting eggs and canned tuna today."
