"I stand before you for the future of this company. A decision has been made, one that I am confident will ensure the continued success and legacy of the M.G.C."

Sa dulo ng mahabang mesa ay nakatayo si Thadeus Maximillian Morfeo, the esteemed patriarch of the company. Inisa-isa ng kaniyang mga mata ang lahat ng tao na nasa loob ng silid. Pinisil ng aking ina ang braso ko at ngumiti sa akin. Tila ba siguradong sigurado na siya sa mangyayari sa gabing ito.

"After much careful consideration, it is my privilege to announce that my son, Cronus Thorn Morfeo, will be succeeding me as Chief Executive Officer of Morfeo Gemstone Couture."

Tinapik ni Mama ang aking braso. Nauna siyang tumayo, nagpalakpakan ang lahat ng tao nang tumayo ako at lumapit sa aking ama. My father turned toward me and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I am confident that he will lead this company with the same commitment that has been the hallmark of our success. The future of M.G.C is in his capable hands," he concluded.

Kinuha ko ang mikropono upang ako naman ang nagsalita. I finished speaking at nagpalakpakan ang mga tao.

Simula pagkabata pa lamang, itong posisyon na ang tinututukan ng aking ama na ma-master ko. Hindi naman lingid sa aking kaalaman ang tradisyon ng pamilya.

My grandfather, Maximilian Morfeo was the one who laid the foundation to make this business the success it is today. His vision, dedication, and hard work turned Morfeo Gemstone Couture into a leading name in the industry. After him, my father, Thadeus Maximillian Morfeo, took over as CEO, as he was the eldest man among his five siblings. His leadership helped the company grow even more. And now, as the eldest son in the next generation, it is my turn to step into his shoes.

Uncle Maxton clapped me on the back ngunit halatang pilit naman.

"Looks like the throne has a new king," Uncle Theodore chuckled.

Ngumisi ako. "Some of us are just more capable of handling responsibility than others."

Napawi ang ngisi nila. Sa huli ay tumango na lamang na para bang wala na ring magagawa kung maghihimutok pa.

Lumapit sa akin ang ilang mga kakilala kaya natabunan ang mga tiyuhin. Binati ako ng ilang mga investors at kilalang tao. Matapos ng maikling kuwentuhan ay nilapitan ako ni Mama.

"Alam kong hindi mo bibiguin ang Papa mo, anak," nakangiting aniya.

I smirked. "Ma, mahalaga ang M.G.C sa akin."

"Cronus, congratulations!" Tita Maxima greeted, siya ang pinakamatanda sa magkakapatid. "I know Thadeus didn't make a mistake in choosing you."

Nangiti si Mama at bumeso kay Tita Maxima. Lumapit na rin sa amin sina Lolo at Lola upang bumati rin.

"Congratulations, apo!" Lola kissed my cheeks.

"I trust you, Cronus," tinapik ni Lolo ang balikat ko. "Alam kong hindi mo pababayaan ang pinaghirapan namin ng Papa mo."

I smiled at him. Natapos ang gabing iyon sa selebrasyon.

Maliit pa lamang ako ay nasaksihan ko na ang hidwaan sa magkakapatid. Malaki ang galit ng aking mga tiyuhin kay Papa. Hindi nila inilihim ang pagkagusto nila kay Hacintha Morfeo, ang aking ina. When Papa married my mother at sa kaniya pa napunta ang mataas na posisyon sa kumpanya, lalong sumiklab ang galit nila sa pamilya namin. Kahit hindi nila sabihin, mahahalata naman sa ikinikilos at sinasabi.
