"You don't need someone to complete you. You only need someone to accept you completely."
It took a while before everyone had completed the jump. It wasn't as nerve wrecking to watch others jump as to actually do it yourself. At my side Roxy was still buzzing with excitement of her actually completing the jump. She had quickly said that it was my courage that had inspired her, but also that she feared Eric would throw someone over. He had not been entirely pleasant after my jump. His mood had turned foul. The only word she could come up with to describe it.
The statement had made me laugh. It was not hard to imagine him doing just that. Once every initiate were on the ground, the older dauntless also dropped. They got off the net quite gracefully. My laugher from Roxy's joke died quickly due to the look Eric sent my way once he had found steady ground under his feet again. He had gracefully leaped off the net before hitting the ground in a controlled crouch. The grace of that action unlike a guy his size. I swallowed and wrapped my arms tightly around my chest, trying to advert my eyes anywhere else than on him but I failed miserably and kept staring at him.
Silence fell in the room before the man who had pulled us off the net stepped forth, his posture even more relaxing but still showing importance like Eric's. He was not one of our leaders but still extremely important to us right now. "Welcome to dauntless." He spoke with the same matter of nonchalance that most dauntless did.
I arched an brow before refocusing my attention on the man. "I'm Four, and I will be one of your instructors for the next nine weeks. Eric, whom you already met, will be going to oversee your training." Four explained, pointing to himself then to Eric not far behind him, now casually leaned against a metal pillar with a very foul expression. Roxy had been right. Four sighed, clearly also noticing Eric before he clasped his hands together. "Now follow us." Four beckoned.
No one hesitated at all. Everyone quickly followed behind the three figures, Four, Eric and a woman that hadn't been introduced yet. She looked young, her golden hair tightly held back in a braid and her clothes extremely worn in some places. She was definitely dauntless born. And I really admired her choice of clothes.
At one of the countless crossroads, the unknown woman turned around to face us all. "Now, Dauntless born, follow me. I assume that there's no need for sightseeing." The unknown woman carried a big grin that transferred to some of the dauntless born when they quickly escaped down another hallway on our right. I looked after them before Four beckoned for us to follow him down the other.
In that same instant Eric also slipped away. I could barely skim the back of him as he turned down a second hallway, this one on our left. I blew out a breath, secretly happy that he had left us. It would no longer be as awkward, though I feared what would happen now that our fates was this heavily intertwined. He clearly remembered my actions from a year ago. I was in so much trouble.
After the dauntless born had left us as well, I noted that we were only nine transfers. It wasn't many. I had heard of factions often having more than 20 transfers at a time. I shifted my gaze around on them all, there were quite a few erudite and candor transfers, one from amity and none from abnegation, but why would anyone from abnegation want to change to dauntless. Their way of living was even worse than the love all way amity had. I resisted gaging at the very thought. I had hated looking at the abnegation in school.
