The kids sat in silence. Half the kids had fallen asleep. The story-teller did not continue. One kid sat up.
"Wait, what? That's it? Was Alan Walker good or bad?" He asked.
The storyteller sighed. "I've been doing research, and I've found some other information on that subject. Most stories agree that Alan Walker was brought to the NCS faculty at a young age, most likely against his will. Though the stories can't agree exactly on how. Some say he was found as the son of a high executive. Some say he was bought from some black market human trafficking thing or another. Some even think he was born in a lab. But I don't think any of them are right." He paused. "All I know is that Alan Walker escaped his captors even though it meant an eternity of looking over his shoulder. He even volunteered to save Ahrix, someone he barely knew, even though he knew he would most likely not make it out alive. He saved NCS victims twice and even died to prevent K-391 from becoming one."
"What's the moral though?" Another kid said. "What are we supposed to take away from this story?"
The storyteller took another long, deep, sigh. "I'm not sure there is one. History doesn't always have morals. Things happen in life that make no sense at the time, or ever. All I know is that a lot of change happened for those artists over the course of that adventure. I saw a woman who knew nothing of war run someone through with her sword. I saw a guy who wanted nothing more than to keep things orderly in his pocket of the world, follow people he had just met into the depths of an enemy fortress. And I saw someone yell and hurt, fight and protect, lie and trust, who in the end turned out to be exactly who I thought he was.
So the moral, kids, is change, pain, love, loss, happens. To everyone. And sometimes how people deal with change is the most important thing to know about them.""The way you talk about this story, almost like you were there." A brown-haired kid (Liam) said.
The story-teller gave a small laugh. He reached for his mask. He took it off.
"Suuuuprise."It was K-391.
