K-391 also understood what was happening. "No! You can't even think about doing that! You can't! You'd be taking them away from their families, their homes, their lives! What kind of monster would do that?!?"
Plutonium stared at him. She clicked her tongue and gestured to herself.
K-391 was shocked. "I didn't know anyone could be so heartless."
Plutonium smiled. "Shows you exactly where you stand. Call me what you like, but I can still force your hand."
TFR interjected. "Actually, It's not K's hand. It's mine. If I decide no, you can't make me do anything."
"You'd be surprised what I can make people do." Plutonium stated.
"We'll see about that. But to me, one artist's life for the enslavement of another twenty-five doesn't seem like a fair trade. And this artist is not exactly at the top of my friends list. And that's assuming you have a way to kill him." TFR explained.
"Fair." Plutonium acknowledged.
"Just one question." TFR asked Plutonium.
"Shoot." She allowed it.
"I've been wondering, Why didn't you put the NCS symbol on Laura? That would be perfect leverage to get me to do something." TFR queried.
"You really wanna know? The poison wouldn't set. We tried and tried, but it just didn't work." Plutonium replied.
"So Laura is safe." TFR repeated.
"Yeah, that's one way to say it." Plutonium replied.
TFR was silent for several seconds. But not much longer. He jumped into the air. "Yes!" He threw his phone onto the ground and smashed it. "IN YOUR FACE, PLUTONIUM!"
Plutonium raised an eyebrow.
"I've been studying the substance you guys use, and I came up with an antidote! but I wasn't quite sure it would work until now, I slipped all of you guys some. We're all immune! You have nothing on us! What do you say to that?" TFR yelled excitedly.
"Very clever Christian. But I have one question." Plutonium smiled coldly. "What if the poison... had already set?"
"What?" K-391 asked, confused. "I think we know if one of us had had..." K-391 cut off, realization dawning on his face. Everyone looked at Alan Walker.Alan Walker who had spent one hundred years at the NCS fortress.
Alan Walker who had said they put the symbol on any artist that came in there.
Alan Walker who had told them that the place the symbol was carved was on the cheek.
Alan Walker who had worn a mask ever since anyone could remember...It made so much sense now, but none of them could have, would have guessed it. K-391 turned to Alan, begging it to not be true. Alan Walker sighed, put his hand up to his mask, and pulled it off.
There was no mistaking the still imprint of a phasing sphere that was the NCS symbol.
