THIRD PERSON POV
"And while you're searching ponder this, We've taken what you'll sorely miss" Adalyn scratched her head staring at the parchment, "What in living hell does this mean?"
"Huh what happened? Where did this came from?" Remus asked scratching his head.
The siblings were sitting in the common room in front of the fireplace, the moon, illuminating the darkness of midnight with its bright shine.
"I don't know" Harry mumbled staring at the parchment too. Taking Cedric's advice, he had gone to the prefect's bathroom and bathed with the egg. When dived underwater, the egg didn't screech as usual but instead sang a poem, which seemed more like a riddle to him. So hearing it for a few times and having it memorized Harry came back to the common room with it.
"Y'know, wait a for a minute" Arilene said handing the parchment back to him and quickly going up towards her dormitory.
After a minute she came back dragging an almost sleeping person behind her. "Oh no" Harry muttered under his breath. "Adalyn's the best in terms of poems and all, maybe she'll get the meaning behind it" Arilene whispered excitedly after taking her seat on the couch adjacent to Harry's.
"For that she needs to be awake" Harry said rolling his eyes and pointing towards the girl who had dozed off on the sofa opposite to him. "Oh for god's sake" Arilene grunted before moving to speak something in the girl's ear.
Harry didn't knew what kind of spell Arilene muttered in the sleeping girl's ear because the next movement she jolted awake and sat on the couch, her eyes widening in alarm. "I'm up,I'm up where's the poem" She said staring at her.
"She definitely threatened to expose her crush in front of Harry" Lily said as Briony snickered beside her, "I can bet on it"
"Finally, give her the parchment" Arilene said to Harry who gave her the parchment without making eye contact.
Adalyn's eyes narrowed on the parchment as she read the words carefully.
"Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this:
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour — the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back."
"The first two lines, I guess it's talking about creatures underwater" She said her eyes still scanning the lines of parchment. "That much we figured it out, according to Harry, maybe there are mere people inside the lake and all" Arilene said resting her head against the couch head.
A few minutes passed by in silence, when finally Adalyn looked up from the parchment towards Arilene, "I'm not sure, but maybe they're gonna take something valuable of yours, which if you can't find in one hour, will be lost forever and you'll miss that thing very much" She said as the siblings looked at her wide eyes.
"Just an hour to find? Wait, if they are speaking about underwater creatures, they're gonna hide the thing under the water too, that means you'll have to stay underwater for an hour to search for that thing" Arilene said her eyes wide in horror.
