The Coldest Touch

Chapter 20

I stated into the eyes of Hades as he glared right back at me. Our stare down lasted all of five seconds before I melted into a little puddle. My knees felt weak and I felt like passing out, but his gaze somehow held me up and I trembled in his presence.

"So, what were you going to tell them?" He rose an eyebrow at me, analyzing me and my group as if we were some very interesting and somewhat pesky creatures that had just evolved from pond scum.

"Uhhhh.." I stuttered my fingers playing with each other in a nervous dance. I could sense that Aladdin and Aurora weren't as eager to have Hades attention now, and they were probably just as terrified of Hades as I was.

"Go on then, tell me!" The god of death commanded, the blue flames atop his head gave off chaotic sparks, and Hades's teeth were clenched. I flinched as Hades bellowed, shrinking in fear.

Anyone in the square that hasn't paid us any attention at all before was now completely fixated on me and the group and I felt even uneasier that way.

Just when I felt like bursting into tears, Aladdin pushed me aside and came up front, he looked about ready to explode. "She's just a girl don't yell at her!" Aladdin bellowed at the top of his lungs and there was a collective gasp from the crowd, and even a tiny squeak of surprise from me.

Hades glowered at Aladdin, staring at him with such great intensity I felt like fainting, and he wasn't even looking at me! Aladdin managed to keep his head up high and he defied Hades by staring right back, his head held high and mighty. Although he looked grand on the outside, I could tell he was frightened out of his mind on the inside by the way he nervously tapped his foot.

"Begone." Hades said in an annoyed tone, and the crowds that had accumulated around us shuffled away, leaving only the three of us alone with the horrible god of death. I felt a sense of dread wash over me, now Hades would probably murder us! Andd noone would ever find out...

My daddy would never hear from me again! Neither would Eric, which surprisingly made me a little bit sad. Not only that, but if we died we would be stuck with Hades and his horribleness for, well, forever. I couldn't begin to imagine how dreadful that would be.

As I awaited my death, Hades suddenly pressed his hand againt Aladdin's forehead. Aladdin's eyes immediately popped wide open his shock clearly displayed. His skin turned ten shades paler, and dark shadows began to form under his eyes. Hades kept his hand on Aladdins head, and pressed harder, closing his eyes and muttering to himself.

I tried to protest, but it was as if my feet were glued to the ground, and my mouth was sealed. Aladdin was soon becoming as white as a sheet of paper, and even his black hair was slowly turning gray. I thought of him dying, and suddenly I felt so angry, Aladdin could not and would not die! I summoned all my energy, all my love for Aladdin, and I willed myself to talk.

"STOP YOU'RE HURTING HIM!" I shrieked in anguish. Hades raised one thin brow in his annoying way but didn't do anything else. My feet were still stuck to the ground, but I continued screaming at Hades and ordering him to stop. I would probably be killed, but for Aladdins sake I would do anything, even die.

Hades took away his hands and Aladdin fell, moaning a little bit. I caught him in my arms and Aurora quickly camee to help me hold him up as I cradled his head in my arms. He was so cold my hands were frostbitten after only ten seconds of holding him but thankfully his pulse was still there, weak but there.

"Please don't die." I whispered into his ear. I looked at his features, taking in his beautiful face. The man I loved was so fragile right now tears were threatining to spill. Aurora held his hands kneeling on the floor with me tears already leaving marls on her angelic face.

"No memory whatsoever...." Hades spoke to himself, his forehead crumpled in thought. I glared at him, my anger coming to the surface. He had nearly killed Aladdin. How dare he! "What is WRONG with you? What did you even do?!" I screamed, spitting my words out. Hades huffed in annoyance and suddenly put his head to Auroras face, doing the same thing as he had done to Aladdin.

She squeaked and her eyes grew as wide as saucers, her face immediately becoming ghostly. "No!" I was appaled, but my hands couldn't move. I didn't feel the same energy as I had before, and I felt drained even from that little 'No'.

Hades continued to press his hand against Aurora's forehead and she started to shiver, her teeth chattering. I felt useless, I couldn't do anything at all and she was dying! I closed my eyes, burrowing my head in Aladdin's shoulders not wanting to see this anyomre.

AIn a couple of seconds I felt Aurora collapse and I quickly put her tiny body in my lap. She seemed to be even cooler than Aladdin, and her lips were tinted slightly blue. Hades continued muttering to himself, stroking his chin in though.

"What have you done?" I demanded to know, wanting my voice to come out strong, but instead it came out weak and unisnspired. Hades looked directly into my eyes, and fear paralyzed me. "The same thing I'm about to do to you." He grinned somewhat wickedly and before I could even react I saw a blur of black and blue and his hand was pressed against my forehead.

I yelped as I felt his cold fingers on my forehead, and I tried to struggle but Hades hand seemed to be anchoring me to the spot. His hand was freezing and I could actually feel myself getting cloder and colder upon his icy touch.

I had this weird sensation as if somebody was walking through my brain, and it was giving me a massive headache. I felt myself slip away and suddenly I was in a dark cave, and there was a river in front of me. "One drachma please." A voice asked, and I swiveled my head around looking for who had said that.

I found the man who had spoken, and he was just a skeleton. He wore a black hooded cloak and upon first glance he only looked like a skeleton but then I realized that that this... creature had a thin coating of gray skin.

"But I don't have a drachma." I pouted, tilting my head at the skeleton man. He opened his mouth as if to say something, when all of a sudden there was a bright flash of light and I was back in the town square. I felt so cold, more frigid than Aurora and Aladdin.

I was so tired I collapsed almost immediately on my knees my head facing the ground. I was panting and I could barely stay awake, and when I looked at my hands they were as pale as snow. "So only your memories are intact." Hades grumbled and I slowly looked at him, lifting my head up.

"So that's what you were trying to find out." I mumbled, spots dotting my vision. "What game are they playing at?" Hades started talking to himself again, much to my annoyance. "Whose playing what?" I asked my mid becoming foggier and foggier. Hades looked down at me slightly disgusted, and rolled his eyes.

"The big three. Forgoet about them already? Look you're going to become unconcious in less than thirty seconds so I'll make this quick. The big three, as you may or may not know, want to kill Mickey and take over the world of Disney," My eyes widened. I only thought they were trying to ruin Aladdin, Aurora's and my happy endings, not all of Disney!

"And contrary to popular belief, I don't want that," he spoke in a bored voice examining his fingernails every so often. "And you, Ariel, are our only hope. And yyour friends of course." He looked directly at me now making me slightly scared.

I felt very groggy now, and my lids became heavier, and Hades cursed in some language. "Only ten seconds left! Anyways, I won't tell you anything else except that you have to go to the blue fairy, she'll tell you what to do. Go throught Neverland to find her. Neverland is the only safe place but whatever you do, dont-" and then my vision went black and I crumpled into a pile with Aurora and Aladdin, never hearing the rest of his sentence.
