Chapter 18
"A kingdom!" I cried in happiness, jumping up and down, clapping. Aurora nodded, her blonde hair bouncing up and down as her head shook somewhat violently.
Aladdin grinned from ear to ear and ran towards the kingdom despite his probably aching muscles and the unbearable heat, his feet kicking up millions of grains of sand. His hair blew as he ran, and I drooled at the sight.
"Aw Ariel!" Aurora smiled at me, her hands clasped behind her back, she was going back and front on her toes, and based on her expression I could tell she knew exactly what I was staring at. I turned a shade of red as red as Sebastian.
"Shhh! Just run!" I mutters bringing my fingers to my lips before breaking out in a jog. I heard Aurora giggling behind me but I ignored her, and I ignored the burn in my lungs as I ran.
My muscles ached but I kept moving, trying to catch up with Aladdin. Moments like these, I feel so happy that I changed into a human, feet flying, the sun warming me up, sweat rolling down my forehead.
Most other princesses didn't enjoy these things as much as I, but these were all things I loved about being a human.
By the time I had finally caught up with Aladdin, I was sucking air in by the gallon and he too was panting. Aurora was way behind, she was just walking. "Hey you caught up!" Aladdin managed to say in between breaths.
I nodded, too out of breath to even say one proper sentence. He laughed throwing his head back and ran faster trying to get to the kingdom first. I giggled and pumped my legs even harder, loving the burn.
I heard Aurora yelling something from behind us but I didn't understand much, and I was too happy to even care. It was a state of euphoria even, I felt happier than when I had first became human.
Aladdin suddenly stopped, kneeling and taking a short break. I plopped next to him laying on my back completely tired and overworked. He lay on his back next to me, and we both laughed.
"What was that?" I smiled, staring up at the cloudless desert sky. Aladdin simply grinned and shrugged as best as we could while laying on the ground.
The sand warmed my back, an I closed my eyes, exhausted from running, and just wanting to lay here next to Aladdin until the end of time. I wanted to be with Aladdin until the end of time.
I really did.
I turned to face him, I was actually going to tell him. I didn't even care if he had a real wife that he didn't know about I just wanted him to know. I needed Aladdin to know exactly what I felt.
"Aladdin-" I started to say, and he turned to face me, our noses just about to touch. Then Aurora came, telling us to get up. Never before had I been this sad to see Aurora. "Come on up guys, we are almost there!"
Aurora helped me up, grabbing my hand and pulling me back to a standing position. I swallowed my bitterness and smiled warmly at Aurora. "Thank you!" I gushed, sounding a lot sweeter than I felt.
She nodded and Aladdin got up by himself, dusting off the remaining sand off of himself. I fanned myself with my hand, I didn't even realize how hot it was until I got back up on my feet.
"Whew let's just get out if this desert." I kept on fanning myself, my other hand propped on my hip.
Everyone mumbled words of agreement and we continued on our little journey towards the city that lay so close yet so far away. The rest of the way we all walked the pain that had shot through my legs before dulled down to a slight throb.
After another maybe five minutes, we stood at a raggedy fence that separated this tiny kingdom from the harsh desert, the wooden planks being the only thing protecting the quaint town from being overwhelmed by the desert.
All three of us stood near the makeshift fence, unsure of what to do. Aurora cocked her head to the left slightly, and poked the fence ever so lightly. At that tiny touch the fence had groaned and shuddered and Aurora jumped backed, frightened.
"That's rather un sturdy, wouldn't you say?" She gulped, looking pale even in this heat. Aladdin chuckled as he took in Auroras reaction.
"It's just a fence!" He snickered as Aurora blushed slightly. He cracked his knuckles a bit before backing up, preparing to do some more than likely crazy and yet still amazing stunt.
He finally stopped backing up and the charge towards the wooden boards, yelling like a banshee as he did so. Just before he hit the fence, he leaped right over his legs shooting directly above the measly wood before he landed perfectly on the towns sandy floor.
My mouth fell open and hit the ground as he casually tore of one of the planks making a little pathway for both me and Aurora. He winked as I passed by and while my innards turned to mush, I simply thanked him.
Aurora crossed the boundary and curtsied, dusting herself off and acting as if she had never even been scared just a little by that fence as Aladdin put the board back in.
"Where in the world did you learn to do that?" I inquired, though I knew it was from living on the streets most of his life. "Well I lived on the streets most of my life." He shrugged confirming what I had already known.
We strolled in the marketplace, and it was busy and alive, the noise just like Greece's market, but everything else was different! The smells, the sights, it was so exotic.
There were stands for literally everything! One little shop to my right was bursting with outfits similar to the kind Jasmine wore but in all kinds of colors. They were tones varying from bright sunshiney yellow to much more muted colors like a calm gray kind.
Women of all ages were milling around at the dress shop, feeling fabrics and trying them on. At the stand next to that one, a man was selling fruits only found around here, but they still looked delicious.
There were ripe and juicy mangoes, the orange reddish peel so inviting, I nearly drooled. The bananas and apples had somehow gotten themselves into this desert and everything looked absolutely scrumptious and tempting.
Aladdin extended his hand towards the mango, his eyes shining like a child's as his fingers curled around the oval fruit. I was too starved to even try to stop him, funny how you only realize thirst and not hunger in such a hot place.
Apparently Aurora wasn't hungry enough to steal and she gave Aladdin a stern look right before he could snatch it away. He frowned ever so slightly but put it down.
To my right, there were a couple of girls dancing for money, and their graceful moves reminded me of Esmerelda... She was suffering in Malificents castle, and here I was, with two clueless companions.
We continued to walk the streets, observing all the sights there were to see and just walking without any purpose. We sat in the shade for a while laying there because we were to tired to do anything else.
We even took turns napping.
Soon, it was sunset, and as the big ball of light and heat sank below the horizon, and the warmth was replaced with cool chilling air, Aladdin noticed something.
"Are those fairies?" He asked, pointing to two sparkling dots. I squinted at the little glowing orbs of light that floated just barely out of reach. Aurora smiled and held out her hand, as if inviting the mysterious creatures to come.
"I don't really know Al." I spoke quizzically, not sure of what to think of the 'fairies'. Aurora stretched her hand out even more and she scooted up a bit. She cooed softly at the things, and soon they came closer.
From a distance they were just golden circles of light flitting around, but once Aurora had them held closer for all of us to see, it was clear that these weren't fairies. They were completely gold, and they had faces like a dolls, cheeks round and glowing, mouth full and pretty.
The only difference between them and a china doll was that they were solid gold and they were flying. We stared, mesmerized at the dolls, and I swore Aladdin giggled when he saw one of the sprites put her hands behind her back, embarrassed at the attention, she had looked like a child that had done wrong.
All of a sudden they both flew away as quickly as they could it had seemed, leaving three very stunned people. I had never seen a creature like that before, and as I looked around, I notice more things that were different around here.
In the daylight it had seemed like a normal little town, but at night it had taken on a whole new perspective. I stood up, walking away from our little shades corner, and everywhere I looked there seemed to be a magical creature.
And all after sunset! There were hundreds of thousands of the little floating dolls, they were all glowing a bright gold, and in the dark starry sky, they looked like the lanterns Rapunzels mother and father released every year.
With every step I took the magic in this place seems to be taking over more and more. I saw a dragon slithering in between one of the tight alleys and I watched as the huge lizards scales changed colors when they went through any light.
In the dark they were a fiery red, a shade that seemed to burn, but in the moonlight, the scales seemed to explode into millions of colors, a rainbow all on one shining scale. It was beautiful and breathtaking.
I was so into the magic, I hadn't even noticed Aladdin and Aurora until they tapped my shoulder. I silenced then, bringing a finger to my lip, trying to make out their faces in the darkness.
Right as I though about how dark it was, a bright light burst through the sky, it was pure white, and it blinded me for a second. "What-" Aurora began, but Aladdin and I were already running towards the source of light.
We ran through streets and marketplaces, foot after foot, when we finally got to what seemed like the center of this while place. There was a temple, and the light had been shining through that.
All around the temple, magical beings frolicked, not even minding us. There were many of the golden dolls whom were all floating around the temple, making a circle of gold around it.
There was a dragon that lay at the bottom of the temple, it's eyes closed, and it's body wrapping around the whole base not one but twice.
This dragons scales were a silver color, and in the bright light they sparkled and shined making it seem as if the dragon had been covered with diamonds.
The temple was covered in shrubbery, the vines curling upwards as wild flowers grew at the base. The flowers just barely missed getting crushed by the dragon, but the vine only reached up until the middle, the light vanquishing anything that touched it.
All of a sudden the blinding white light stopped shining, and it was dark for a couple seconds before the ground started to glow. Literally.
When the streets were lit up, everything could be seen, including all the mythical creatures and the magic. There were Greek gods strolling around, and there were all sorts of magic things.
Unicorns pranced around, and fairies mingled with the golden dolls. Dragons flew in the night sky, swooping up and down. I felt something skim my foot, and I looked down to see a little elf with a yellow pointy hat.
There were more little elves on the streets, and gnomes, and dwarves, and then I heard a loud clapping noise, and thunder boomed. The rest of the city seemed calm but Aurora, Aladdin and I were frightened out of our minds.
I wasn't scared just because it was a loud sound but because the only other place I had heard this was at Meg's Garden. When Hades had come.

Sorry it's so long! I tried adding details, and while they may be crappy, enjoy! ~_~
