Chapter 19
I gasped, sucking in the air as the thunder rumbled and soon went away. There was blue smoke everywhere, and I could tell Hades was trying to make a dramatic appearance. The drama gave me enough time to recover from the shock and pull my friends in a nearby alley.
If Hades found us I knew something bad was going to happen. Okay, I didn't exactly know, but he's Hades! He's crazy! He tried to kill my cousin Hercules countless times...
Aurora and Aladdin began to protest, but I must have looked beyond frightened so they stopped saying anything, and were soon as quiet as mice.
The smoke cleared just as quickly as it had come, and Hades had emerged from the blue cloud, smiling wickedly. Most of the Greek gods rolled their eyes and continued walking, but some stayed and chatted with the blue demon that had arrived.
"Aphrodite, the goddess of love!" We heard a man announce in a melodic tune, and then Aphrodite appeared out of nowhere, her beauty so overwhelming and stunning.
As she made her grand entry the gods all clapped, both minor and major. She smiled graciously and nodded her head at everyone. Wherever she had walked flowers seemed to sprout and she left a sweet yet seductive scent of strawberries everywhere.
"Hello." Hades inched closer toward the goddess, and smoothed his hair back, much to her disgust. She snapped her fingers and roses had immediately appeared and held Hades back as Aphrodite stalked off.
The roses snapped nearly immediately and Hades puffed annoyed by his failed attempt. He walked in the opposite direction of Aphrodite, and he was getting out of my line of sight.
I stretched out as far as I could, my head poking out of the alley and into the little town square. I glimpsed Hades, and he continued to walk away.
Suddenly my foot slipped, and I squeaked as I tried to steady myself. Aladdin grabbed my hand before I fell, and I smiled graciously at him, thankful for that little catch. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Aurora giggling, but I had no time for that. Not right now.
Hades must have heard that little squeak because he had stopped dead in his tracks and turned on his heels, heading our way. I ran all the way to the back of the alley, and motioned for Aladdin and Aurora to follow.
They tiptoed towards me, and we all pressed out backs against the dark wall, the smell of garbage filling my nose. My back felt wet as I pressed against the wall some more, and I felt disgusting and gross and dirty.
Hades peered through the tiny gap that led to the alley, and his black eyeball scared me oh so much. I held my breath and took my friends hands, squeezing as hard as I could manage.
I held my breath in, waiting for the god of death to walk away. He did soon, and when he left, the world seemed better. I let out a puff of air before Aurora suddenly twisted her hand out of my grip and pushed me against the wall.
"Take it easy!" Aladdin yelled, but I was too shocked to even register what had just happened. "Why did you do that?!" She demanded to know, holding me tight against the wall.
I gulped, how could I even begun to explain our situation? Deciding to go for an easy explanation, I whimpered and told her I was scared of the lightning.
She narrowed her eyes at me and scanned my face, and in an instant, I knew she had sen through my lie.
"It was Hades wasn't it?" She asked, not really asking, but telling me. I nodded nervously, and Aurora let go of me. "Tell me why?" She pursed her lips as crossed her arms. I saw Aladdin waiting for my answer as well, he looked curious.
"No. I can't tell you why..." I muttered, and Aladdin and Aurora both groaned, exasperated. Aurora tapped her chin for a moment, her forehead wrinkled in concentration.
I could tell that something was going in in her brain, and that something had to do with Hades
"What if..." She pondered silently rambling on in her mind. "Aha!" She yelled and I could practically see the lightbulb glowing just above her head. "Shhh!" Both Aladdin and I scolded, me flinching at how many sounds she was making.
She grinned wickedly and all of a sudden grabbed both me and Aladdin's hands, and dragged us out. "Eek!" I shrieked, trying to make her let go of me. Aladdin also struggled to no avail, and then it hit me.
Her idea was to actually get Hades to greet us. Oh Seahorse that was going to be bad. As she pulled us both back into the streets, I tried to run back, but she grabbed my arm before I could.
I struggled some more before giving up. Her skinny and seemingly dainty arms held on to my own hands like how Pooh bear held his honey jar. It was a strong firm grip I just couldn't get out of.
"What are you, some kind of superhero?" I asked, annoyed by how she had gotten so strong and firm all of a sudden. "Just something that happens at night." She shrugged, and the n out of the blue, she started to scream.
"Hey, HEY HADES!" She shouted towards the blue demon as my eyes grew as wide as saucers. Aladdin seemed to have caught on to the plan because he started to yell as well. In harmony, they both yelled at the top of their lungs.
I looked around and could see the townsfolk-er, magical creatures- glaring at us, and rolling their eyes. I blushed a crimson red color and tried to shut my friends up. "Guys!" I whined, trying to cover their mouths.
Aurora stopped for a moment and looked me dead on the eyes, her strange blue-purple eyes boring into my own. "Then explain." She ordered, and I sighed in defeat as Aladdin continued to holler. "Okay I'll tell you guys..." I muttered, and Aladdin stopped screaming and they both cheered happily.
"Tell you guys what exactly?" I heard someone behind me hiss. I turned slowly, and there he was. In all his great blueness and scariness, the god of death.
