Chapter 26
Aladdin, Aurora, and I sat around the long oak table, eating the few snacks that Grimsby had so excellently made. I hadn't even known how hungry I was until the warm food had entered my mouth, melting oh so perfectly. The sweet pie and the salty biscuit were perfectly combined, and I couldn't help but gorge myself on the indulgences. Hey- even princesses needed to go food crazy sometimes!
We all chatted a little as we stuffed our faces, laughing and smiling. For a moment, there was nothing but warmth. All troubles and evil seemed to float away, a distant dream rather than a prevaling threat. I could only see love here, and thoughts of the big three all washed away as I continued to talk with my friends.
I looked out of the big glass windows that stood next to the table, surpirsed at how the sun was setting already. Time really does fly when you're having fun... The setting sun receded along the horizon, casting orange rays on the darkening sea. The ocean bursted into a million colors as the pastels of the sun set, a melting pot of bright hues and subdued blues. It was a perfect scenery to enjoy on such a perfect evening.
Even the little incident with Eric didn't ruin my happiness as I sat with Aurora and Aladdin.
"Well I don't know about you two, but I am absolutely stuffed!" Aurora sighed contentedly, patting her barely there stomach. Aladdin and I looked at each other from across the table in disbelief, our brows raised. She hadn't even eaten an entire slice of pie for Walts sake!
"Stuffed with what? Air?" Aladdin snorted as he shoved another spoonful of pie in his face, somehow getting some on his nose. I laughed as Aurora rolled her eyes and got up, pushing her chair in delicately.
"Ha ha, very funny," Aurora pursed her lips and crossed her arms, before turning towards a maid. "Excuse me, do you mind showing me to a guest room? I am absolutely exhausted!" The maid nodded before leading her out of the kitchen and to one of the many rooms that were in this huge castle.
Once Aurora was completely out of sight, I grabbed another slice of pie and took two more biscuits, piling them onto my overflowing plate. "I am most deffinitely not stuffed!" I said in a very un-ladylike manner as I continued to munch on my food.
"Not even close!" Aladdin grabbed the entire pie, taking a bite out of it.
"Hey! You can't have the whole thing!" I shrieked as he continued to demolish what was left of the dessert. He stuck his tongue out at me, and I very maturely stuck my tongue back out at him, a mischevious idea coming into my head.
"I want this pie- no I need this pie." He drawled, emphasizing the 'need' with wide eyes.
"Well if you want it that badly," I shrugged as I took a piece of the pie on the dingle hopper- no no, fork- and held down the little legs of the fork, aiming the crust at Aladdins face. "You can have it!" I declared as I let go of the fork. The food flew through the air and landed right in the middle of his face, right on his nose, with a satisfying smack.
Aladdins jaw dropped as he faked a look of shock. "I am hurt, princess!" He joked, before grabbing a dripping piece of the pie, throwing it at me with an evil grin. Before I could even say 'whatchamacallit' I was hit with apples and crust. And in my hair.
"I am a queen! I do not get into food fights!" I exclaimed, simeoutaneously throwing a smushed biscuit at him. The flaky dough hit his cheek, leaving a few crumbs.
"Lucky for me, I am no queen," Aladdin grinned, flinging some more pie at me. It whooshed past and hit the wall behind me. Ha!
"Well you certainly throw like one." I teased, my hands on my hips as I dared him to throw anything else at me. I couldn't help but back up in slight fear as Aladding climbed onto the table, the entire pie in his hands.
"I won't miss this time." He smiled cheekily before jumping off the table, coming at me with the entire pie! I ran around the table laughing as he chased me, my dress flying behind me. I was just about to escape from the pie hearalding freak when I felt an arm come around my waist, and I was spun around to meet Aladdins eyes.
His face was maybe inches away from mine, and in that moment I wanted nothing more than to kiss him. His dark lashes framed beautiful brown eyes that sparkled and shone like the sun, so easy to see even though his dark bangs fells into his face.
His hand was wrapped around my thin waist, and I could feel his warm breath on my face. The silence was unbearable, and so I rose my hand to his face, wiping off the apple that had stuck on his nose.
"You got a little something there," I whispered, a small and awkward smile playing on my rosy lips.
Aladdin laughed, a little red in the face. "You're off the hook," He, unfortunately, let go of my waist and we were seperated yet again. Sigh. "For now." He said dramatically, setting the pie down on the table before walking out of the kitchen. He turned around and squinted his eyes pointing as his eyes, before pointing back at me.
He walked up the grand stairs, off in search of either the bathroom or a bedroom, I didn't know. In the messy state that he was in right now, I hoped he was looking for a bathroom to clean up in. He turned aorund just before he left, winking at me. Now that was rather unneccessary. That did not help with the zoo that had escaped in my stomach. I watched as he finally disappeared into the long hallways of my home.
Once I was sure that he was gone, I sighed and turned around, clutching desperately at my chest. My heart hurt, and my head was spinning. We had been so close... So close and yet so far.
"Oh what have I gotten myself into?" I murmured to myself, thoughts of kissing a certain former street rat flooding my thoughts.
